Temperatures whilst on Hydroxycarbamide
Hi valdowning, yes I too was told the same before I went on hydroxy, I've never had a temperature and have been on hydroxy for 7 months , I think it's because if our white cell's drop to low it's harder to fight of infection .
Thank you Jase I haven't been ill either fingers crossed it carries on and we can both be healthy bye for now.
hi Valdowning . I have PV and am JaK 2 pos. A few years ago was taking Hydroxy and after a while it became "toxic" or that is how it was described to me. A few hours after taking it I would get feverish and would have to go to Accident and Emergency where, upon immediate admission they would intravenously run a saline solution into me until the fever dissipated. This was i gather to flush the Hydrox out of the system. Shortly after this I had to change to Anagrelide. I gather intolerance of Hydrox is not that uncommon. It worked well whilst I could tolerate it. I hope that is of some assistance. I wish you well in your journey. Jan of Hackett
Thank you for letting me know your experiences I have been taking Hydroxycarbamide for about 5 years and have never had a high temperature so just preparing myself incase,I have only joined this group a couple of days ago but can tell it is going to be most helpful, thank you for your kind wishes and sending back mine to you also.
Please do not confuse fever with temperature. Everyone has a temperature even if it is 'ambient' or 'room'. And, yes, early in my treatment of ET, Hydrea caused quite a bit of discomfort. Agrylin (anagrelide) was new then and expensive, but worth it.
