Stomach ache

Hubby diagnosed PV a year ago, on Hydera and aspirin. All counts good 6 weeks ago and not due back there until October. Hubby keeps saying he has stomach ache and he's also quite tired. Anyone else experienced this? Do you think this is the illness changing?

Yes,stomached ache ,indigestion, all part of the side effects that arrive.Drs normally give Gaviscon, and an anti spasmodic if pain is sometimes acute. He will get used also ,to food or drink that can cause these things and avoid it,we all go thru this. The tiredness also is the P.V and the Hydrea,it's very debilitating and depressing. It is a life changing thing, but can be managed with time !! I wish him the very best ,hope it helps to know he is not alone .Good luck.Inca

When I first went on Hydroxy and aspirin I was getting stomach aches and Dr changed the Aspirin to Clopidogrel with Omaprazole which calmed it down, but if course we are all different

You are quite right,Yorkie,I do take omeprazole too,I forgot to say that! it is the best for digestive problems, meds here have different names and I forget to translate .Notice on posts from others Aspirin can cause stomach and breathing probs.Keep well as poss.Inca

Cheers Inca. A few weeks ago my heart went into AF and they changed the Omaprazole to Lanzaprazole stating the other shouldn't be taken with Clopidogrel. I am not convinced as the stomach aches are back and the same cardiologist put me on Warfarin and Aspirin and kept me on Clopidogrel as well. After a couple of weeks of asking if this was right the Aspirin has been stopped. #confused.com

Hi again Yorkie, don't know what AF is,tho I had to have a stent just after PV diagnosis,so have heart meds too.My Dr tells me that with so much going into the body ,stomach probs are inevitable,Hydrea of course might just as well be poison,no wonder we feel ghastly often, and confused with the different meds and opinions! Good Luck,we need it

Yeah unfortunately it goes with the condition, you never know from one day to the next what other wonderful symptom will appear but you do get to recognise what goes with the treatment and the condition, keep your chin up, you'll get used to it and if your down or just fed up there is always support or an understanding shoulder to moan on,good luck with it all!

I get a lot of stomach ache and bloating, not on meds yet and am having an ultrasound next week. I think mine is probably something like IBS though as I wake with a flat stomach and look 6 months pregnant by bed time. Hope he gets it sorted. Mel
