The quote is £900 - he has an MPD and portal hypertension which was caused by the MPD and was how we discovered it - a clot in the portal vein etc. Is there anywhere that we can try that wont be so expensive? Many thanks.

Hi daws

I used direct line before and their quote was a lot lower than other insurance companies

Mpd voice voice compiled a list of insurance companies a few years ago... Get in touch with the administrator of this site (maz) and she will post the online link to you

I have used All Clear which I found on the MPD leaflet referred to by Maz. I went to Italy last December. I am 70 years old with ET and MDS plus a pacemaker and 2 heart conditions. They charged me £173 insurance for 2 weeks. I had heard from others that All Clear are very kindly when talking to you on the phone and that was certainly true in my case. Given that I had been recently bereaved their approach was also helpful to me at the time. Their price was reasonable in comparison to others. Hope this helps. You will find them online. Have a good time on your holiday.

Hi, Not had a clot but did use 'Staysure' last year (long haul), they were great and only cost me £5 more than normal. Had a good amount of cover which did include medication cover.

Hello, I have used a broker and it has been very helpful. The insurances I have had the last 7 years, haven't at all as expensive as when I have checked with the companies directly.

I have paid around £180 for an annual and for 2 people....
