Newcastle and Edinburgh joint patients’ forum 2014

The Newcastle/Edinburgh joint patients’ forum will be held on Friday 10th October 2014 from 2 – 5.00 pm, with registration and *buffet lunch from 1 pm, in The Grainger Suite, The Centre for Life, Times Square, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 4EP. A map and travel directions are available here...

It has been decided to hold a joint patients’ forum this year in Newcastle with the team from Edinburgh, the forum will be hosted by Dr Jonathan Wallis, Consultant Haematologist and Clinical Director, The Freeman Hospital, Newcastle. Dr Mira Farquharson, Consultant Haematologist, Western General Hospital, Edinburgh, will also be attending the forum and giving a presentation. This joint forum will be held again during 2015 in Edinburgh.


2 - 2.15 pm - welcome and introduction, Dr Jonathan Wallis

2.15 - 2.45 pm - new developments in diagnosis, Dr Mira Farquharson

2.45 - 3.15 pm – new developments in treatments, Dr Stephen O’Brien

3.15 – 3.30 pm tea/coffee break

3.30 – 4.15 pm – break out groups for ET, PV and MF

4.15 – 4.30 pm – patient story (speaker to be confirmed)

4.30 – 5 pm – questions and discussion and close of forum

Patient speaker - would you like to give a talk at this forum? Hearing from another patient how they manage and cope with their MPD and the varying symptoms that can affect daily life can be very encouraging, if you would like to share your story with others at the forum please email with details of your talk, please include a contact telephone number.
