Aimovig. I had been on it for just over a year and it’s been life changing, however, my headache nurse told me the last time I saw her that I have to take a break and see what happens. This has happened before and after about 9 months I was back to being a chronic migraine sufferer before then going back on aimovig. My real worry is that she may refuse allowing me to having it prescribed again. The last injection I had was end of January and I can feel an increase in migraine symptoms though not chronic yet.
I’d like to know what experience anyone of you may have had and how you may have got on with a break in medication, and generally your thoughts.

I find this approach to be flawed, the data clearly shows that Aimovig gets better the longer you use it. My own records showed that Week 4 was always the worse as it was starting to wear off. When I was put on a break I was told to put the last injection in the fridge for emergencies so I don’t think they were even confident. Lo and behold after a month my migraines were increasing in frequency and intensity so I took my emergency injection and they have put me back on them. In my opinion, don’t wait, get back to them and show them data that clearly demonstrates you are deteriorating, it takes away the chance of them saying no to more and will mean you get back to the good times quickly. Good luck 👍
