don't know where to turn ,. I am worrying myself silly can't relax ,and as a result I am getting more migrain aura's. It's a vicious circle. The more migraines I get ,the more I worry. Would it be worth going private to see a nuero? Its going tobe over a year on NHS. The GP seems dismissive now he has refered me. Can only take painkillers because I also have Glaucoma, lots of drugs react badly .

Any one any tips on how to relax ,. Is anyone else panicking about them.

Think its worse because I am on my own. Should be use to things now I am over 70. Somehow every thing is

I sympathise as my chronic migraines are completely out of control and am worried about how to get back to work etc and nothing so far has helped. Am sure worrying keeps us in a viscous cycle of pain. My nhs wait was 8 months so hopefully yours won't be longer. In the meantime I did consult a private neurologist to check nothing sinister and also the National migraine centre as couldn't do nothing for 8 months. I would recommend doing the same if it will stop your worries.

Neuro helped as ruled out an underlying serious cause. No better yet. Think next step will be Botox via nhs headache clinic

Your GP has referred you right? And prescribed meds in the meantime I presume. Mine put me on triptans first. Neurologist recommended Topiramate which worked for 2 months, back to square one, but also got MRI done to eliminate nasties and confirm dx chronic migraine. It's a matter of try everything.

Try getting into pilates/ quigong, meditative plus movement. Stick with it, your migraine may go.

This post might give you some ideas on changing the way you react to the intrusive thoughts in a way that breaks the vicious circle.

Has your GP done any blood tests to rule out conditionns, like B12 deficiency, that can cause migraie like headaches. As you get older your stomach acidity reduces which can effect the absorption of vitamins and minerals. B6 is another possibility but please talk to your pharmacist before you try supplements.

NHS waiting times are very long, I have been waiting more that a year to see a headache specialist. Currently seeing the amazing doctors at the national migraine centre, so really recommend them.

I would also recommend curable app, it is for chronic health conditions and has lots of techniques to reduce anxiety. Or perhaps try some other meditation and daily affirmation exercises. My favourite technique is when I wake the first thought in my head is “I choose joy”.

Hope you feel less anxious soon :-)

I would definitely go private if you can. Feeling like you do is not worth it, at least then you can start some prophylactics to find one which works quicker than waiting a year. GP are unfortunately unknowledgeable. Even some neurologists, see if you can find one who specialises in migraine specifically.

I suggest you talk to your GP about talking therapy. Sometimes the headaches are caused by deeply underlying worries - and you may not know immediately what they are. I think living on your own could be an issue among others. Talking it out with a professional could help you.

I've been waiting 5 years, they took me off the list because the person I was under retired, went private £250....waste of time and money.

I relate to you. I have headaches everyday and at least twice a wk turns into migraines. I take Rizitritan . Helps a lot. I have high blood pressure and anxiety too, but this medication has saved my life. Maybe you should ask to try and see if you get relief. You could be on a very low dose like me. Only 10 mg. Also, faith and prayer help a lot. Good luck.
