Hello all. I’m new to the group and wondered if anyone suffers from cervicogenic headaches. I can’t find much information on any groups. Thanks

Cervicogenic pain
Hello, I have joined the migraine group as I have had migraines with aura since I was about 14 years old.As part of looking for answers I came across cervicogenic headaches and think some of my headaches might be due to that.I haven't seen a doctor about it.I have alot of stiffness in my neck.I paid to see a physiotherapist and he said my neck was very tight with limited movement on one side.He also thought the stiffness was coming from further down from inbetween my shoulders. He did 2 sessions of massage and stretching and he did 1 accupuncture treatment.I don't know if it's psychosematic but my neck had felt "lighter " and less stiff. I have also bought a cervical pillow made is memory foam on line for about £30 and that has made a great difference to how my neck and head feels. I used to sleep quite hunched up and clenching my jaw sometimes and that has improved. The physio said he couldn't feel anything major wrong with my neck just wear and tear.I didn't go to the doctors as I didn't really want more tablets and I thought they wouldn't have anything to offer me.I do take amitriptyline everyday(20mg) as a preventative for migraines and that has worked for about 8 years.I have now been diagnosed with graves disease which affects my thyroid and the migraines have got worse.I have now been prescribed proprananol as a preventative and am weaning myself off amitriptyline. I have tried to take an approach where 1 thing on it's own might not work but 2 or 3 things together might. Hope my experience might help in some way.
Just to add I looked online and found a local qualified physiotherapist.I rang up and got an appointment same week. I paid £35 for half an hour treatment.I had 2 treatments a fortnight apart. He also did accupuncture so the 2nd treatment I had 15 mins physio and 15 mins accupuncture. I could book on an as and when basis and wasn't obliged to book future appointments. Including buying my pillow it cost me just over £100 to try this method of treatment. For me it has been worth it as I feel I have gained some benefit.I cannot afford to do this permanently but I thought it was worth a try.I am in Yorkshire so prices will probably be different in other areas of the U.K.
