I think the first thing would be to see your doctor to try eliminating any possible cardiovascular issues - probably there is nothing to worry about, but there is no point taking a risk such as this.

when diagnosed in 2013 they said i had a TIA / MINI STROKE was pushed from pillar to post in hospitals and doctors scans and consultants then was told it was migraines ,was prescribed propranapol beta blockers 80 mg a day but not working . the pain is so bad i am reduced to tears and have to lie down in complete darkness , the pain can last from 10 mins to 2 hours . is there anything i can ask the doctor for to help with this ?

Can you describe your blackouts? This used to happen to me where my vision would black out for up to a minute but I was still conscious. If I was upright I had to stop until the blackout was over and I got painful headaches as well. Not sure if this is the same as yours but they did find the cause for mine.

Sorry for asking again a few things -

1) Who diagnosed TIA and who overruled saying migraine and on what basis?

2) Did you have blood test recently to measure cholesterol? Is your blood pressure normal?

3) Did they (doctor / hospital) carry out ambulatory ECG on you i.e., a portable machine is worn by you for at least 24 hours?

4) Have they done echocardiography (sonogram of the heart) ever? You have mentioned they had done scans - what type of scans?

There are at least 10 different types of major prescriptive prophylaxis, your doctor (and you) need to try all of these until you find one that is suitable. Almost all of these have unpleasant side effects but they will ease off eventually.

Apart from that, you may try other things, we have been discussing these in below thread - can you please read it (if you have time) ?

If botox works you may also have the option to go for surgery to remove corrugator muscle - you can search migraine surgery in Google and you will find this.

So there are lots of different things to try to combat (manage) this dreadful illness - please do not give up yet ! But we need to get the bottom of this blackout case first - remember fainting is almost always caused by temporary reduction in blood flow to the brain. In your case, if the pain is actually causing the fainting (not the other way round) then it is less of a serious problem, but the doctors have to get this right - may be try persuading your GP to open this case again? Also, don't forget to ask for a Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D test - abnormality of these two things can cause migraine and headaches and GPs often do not think of these. The test is straight forward and cheap - so there is no reason why it cannot be done.
