Best way to deal

What's the best way to deal with migraines without going the pharmaceutical route? I'd like to keep it as natural as possible.

Ive given up taking any medication, for me none of it ever worked, so I suffer for a few days until the next episode,

in general I feel better overall with this approach, I cant say that taking any vitamin or mineral supplements have had any effect either...tried most of them, along with keeping hydrated too it really doesnt seem to make any difference at all IMO !

Hi, I've tried gadgets, all treatments, preventors, medications and concoctions of supplements. I felt much better when i came off them for a couple of wks.

The daily headaches started to come back and escalated to daily migraine.

I changed my diet, cut out sugar, drink 10 glasses of water a day and eat Mediterranean. Bought green migralense glasses.

I take max of 2 triptans a month if i get a corker but ibuprofen /paracetamol keep it at bay.

No meds other than this. If i happen to get a corker in the evening i take 2 solpadine max and a kirkland sleepaid, wipes it right out and i feel better next day.

I send all my heavy medications I took for so long, back to the pharmacy before I could do myself serious harm with it. Went cold turkey, was painful, phoned NHS helpline and nurse advised if I did not want to go back on my medication to take that night 1 ibuprofen/ nurofen 600 plus 2 paracetamols 500 mg . Did the trick to send me to sleep. Then after consultation with neurologist was told to be deficient in vitamin B12 and D. I received the usual loading doses and thereafter 1 a month for life. Take Vitamins B9 folic acid, D3 with K2 as a supplement. Occasionally also magnesium.

I know my triggers and deal with them through my diet and live with regularity in my life.

If I still get the occasional migraine ( barometric and unavoidable with traveling) I can manage it with Ibuprofen and paracetamols, forehead stick , Vicks menthol nose inhaler. Wear my 😎 and get through the day that way all more manageable as the injections have reduced the severity of the pain during a migraine.

I wish this could be helpful for others but I also do know, life isn't that easy and people have migraines that aren't helped by this. Alas.

I can't comment on the efficacy of these methods as I'm still figuring them out for myself but:

Excercise is shown to be a good preventative measure although opinions differ on how often per week

Dolovent is a supplement in the UK which provides study approved amounts of several elements that have been implicated in migraine and who have worked as preventatives for a significant amount of people

Glasses which filter certain types of light have worked well for some people, even those who didn't realise light sensitivity was an issue for them

Various therapies such as cranial osteopathy and the bowen technique have been suggested
