Hi Harps

Sorry to hear that you are unhappy with your treatment.

I believe you are handling it the right way, by going back to your doctor. Some of theses medication need a health proffessional to adjust them correctly. This is to reduce the side effects etc.

I'm hope that they will be able to sort out more suitable treatment. Bear in mind, all medication comes with risk of side effects.

Have a Blessed day.

Hiya!

Sorry to hear of your experience taking pitzotifen and gaining weight. Unfortunately the same happened to me and over 3 years I gained over 3 stone whereas I always used to be skinny. It's crazy. Going back to doctor sounds a good idea as there are loads of other medications out there. I'm still on it but I'm soon starting noritryptiline and so then I will hopefully be able to withdraw it. Good luck and keep us posted! Love becky xxx

I had a disticnt mispleasure of putting on weight with pizotifen which was 7kg. I am small so this much makes a huge difference. I was first treated by a neurologist and when my migraines went away for a whole month ( not a single headache) the neuro took me off the patients list and told to stop the medicine. Then a month later migraines came back with the usual chronic severe pattern. Then i spent half a year asking the gp to send me back to the neuro and another 8 months to get an appointment with the neuro. In the meantime i was put back on pizotifen but my dose was regularly increased every few weeks to now 2.5 mg because it wasn't working! So when i saw my neuro she sighed in disbelief that the GP was feeding me such a high dose when it wasn't working. I remember the GP being self assured that I don't have to see the neuro as they can very well manage the migraine. Clearly they cant and i wish they didn't create obstacles to receiving specialist care. On the weight gain point - when i first came off it all the weight dropped off by itself so now i am looking forward to being skinny while i stop pizotifen and go onto topiramate.
