I normally get migraine with aura and had a particularly nasty one back on 5th June, different aura. Since then I've had a very weird watery reflection like pattern in my peripheral vision of my left eye. Went to opticians who thought it was the membrane behind my eye and gave me a leaflet on flashes and floaters and scared me half to death about detached retinas.
Decided to go to see an eye consultant who looked and checked my eyes and said all was healthy. He gave me a diagnosis of Ocular Migraine. Can one last this long? It's nearly 3 weeks now and I've also had another migraine with aura. I thought they were like aura migraines that were short lived. Supposed to be going on holiday in a few weeks and this has unnerved me........ a double whammy of migraine then? Please help me try and unravel my confusion. I've only started with them in Jan 2017 and am 46! Thank you

Hi Becky, I've had migraine with aura since i was 14yrs old, always hormonal and lasted no more than 2days. Now I'm 52 and they last 5-7 days, aura comes again and again over this time.
Think it's because I'm in perimenopause, instead of a period i get a wks worth of aura migraines 😣. All other days i have hemacrania continua migraines, it's terrible.
I take injections of sumatriptan for them, they work fast.
I also get aura type migraine and the occasional floaters. My opticians suggested that I wear my glasses more often, but no diagnosis.
I have had frequent migraine for around a year now. I am in my 50's so it's probably menopausal. I have tried the usual over the counter medicine. Also herbs, which worked for a while but then it returned.
At the moment, I am taking fresh aloe Vera. I bought the plant around a month ago. For 2 days, I have cut off a small part of the shoot and swallowed the bitter gel inside with lots of water. The migraine reduces tremendously within half an hour. I am taking it morning and night. Probably best to consult your doctor, if you are on medication, before taking it. There are aloe Vera capsules for sale, on line and in health shops.
A word of warning, aloe Vera can have a laxative effect.
