Hi Fibrom

I was on Amitriptyline 50mg at night daily for migraines for several years too. When my migraines become very less frequent I decided to try coming off the Amitriptyline very slowly over 2 or 3 months. I was successful and now 6 months on only have occasional headache, not migraines. However I do have more pain in my arthritis shoulder which I now realise the Amitriptyline had been helping! Good luck and take things slowly so your body gets use to Amitriptyline dose change.

I came off Amitriptyline 50mg per day very slowly reducing it by 10mg a month. I didn't feel the Amit was doing any good and was just another drug being pumped into my body. I suffer from chronic migraines with or without the Amit so would rather stop taking it and then work on other ways to tackle my migraines.
