It should be quite instant I think because you don't get the drop in oestrogen levels on the week of not taking the pill. Hope you start feeling better

Hi Karym - I was also prescribed the mini-pill some years ago to help manage my migraines with aura (I also experienced the dizziness and some vertigo too). The progesterone actually had a really beneficial effect on me and I didn't have another visual aura migraine for years. I still get migraine of course but it's rarely accompanied by visual aura now.

I also used to have debilitating periods... and now I have none at all - which is great for me! Though I know that doesn't work for many people. I can't recall how long it took before I started feeling better... but I recall it being within the first menstrual cycle.

Good luck deciding on what to do. Q x

I've just been started on the mini pill so I'll give it a month or two and hope it makes a difference.

Good luck with yours

I can only give you my experience from 2 weeks on the mini-pill, but thought I'd chime in anyway. It gave me WAY more headaches, like nearly every day. Supposedly, this is because it increases your water retention. From what I read online, it was like 50/50 if it helped women or not. My good friend had a Mirena IUD (progesterone only) put in and it stopped her migraines! Hopefully it helps you :)
