That's positive jilly . It just shows how what's works for one doesn't for another . What dose did you start on? I hope I don't get any dreadfull side effect! X
I started on 15 went to 30 then 45 and am now down to 30mg. I have had no side effects but I am feeling better generally. I have been on it for just over a year now. I also found my sleep swell as my mood improved. Hopefully you will be lucky. It took me several different anti depressants before I was prescribed this one. The others didn't work for me.

Hi there. I have tried mirtaz and trazedone-horrible side effects. Tried lots of meds and now taking nortriptylin which seems ok ish atm. There are contras with some anti depressants and triptans for migraine! Good luck.
Hi, nortriptylin has been advised as a preventative for chronic migraine as the next step but I'm waiting for botox results. Had it done twice now as recommended but suffering every day still
Hello again, I have been suffering from chronic migraine now for about 2 years, although had migraines for as long as i remember. I have tried so many prophilaxis that i now take the nortriptyline for my low mood due to feeling sooo poorly most of the time ( about 5 days out of 7) . I am waiting atm to go and have another GONI - had it done in April and was migriane free for 4 whole weeks - amazing and was able to do normal things like have a glass of wine and wear perfume!! I manage my illness now with zolmitriptan and codeine. Good luck.
Yes, there are. I have triptans for the migraine, Amitriptyline for nerve pain and mirtzapine for the depression. I think it just requires care, common sense, etc to manage But yes, you do have to be wary of serotonin overload.

My adult daughter took Mirtazapine for depression (she doesn't get migraine, so no drug conflicts), but it made her into a horrible person! She was on a very short fuse and suffering great feelings of rage. We were quite worried she might forget herself and get into a road rage incident or worse - lose her temper at our grandchild. The benefits as far as depression were concerned, were nil. She's off it now and addressing her problems with CBT and a different anti-depressant. Her illness hasn't exactly helped my migraines!
