I have been taking it for a number of years and it helps a lot. I have been told that the max dose is 1600mg daily. I know that sounds like a lot, but my body needs that much.
I take 500mg 3x daily and the noon dose helps the most. I can feel pain in my head at about 11:30am and after I take thr noon dose the pain goes away.
If you still have bad headaches you can increase the amount.
I would add that if you reach 1600mg daily and you see no change ( decrease #and decrease in pain) you should consider adding something else ( maybe Feverfew) or change the type of Magnisium.
Thanks. I was having a time of getting so many headaches so referred to neurology, had MRI scan and luckily nothing worrying apart from some damaged vessels they say prob from being ex smoker. They said for me to try propranolol as preventative. I was taking 1 morning and 1 night time but making me so tired. A friend who is in to more natural remedies gave me some magnesium gylcinate to try so have been taking that at night and just the 1 propranolol in morning and so far seems good 🤞 so wonder if worth me getting some lower mg incase want to try increasing when have headache
There's numerous types of migraines or headaches, getting a diagnosis is essential, I was struggling really badly, and was also put on propananol , and I also had the various scans, but my headaches were diagnosed as cluster headaches and these are the " mother " of any type of headaches or migraines, they are called suicide headaches as the pains are intense and have you rocking in agony, I was then put on topiramate which worked well, but then the headaches came back and even doubling up the medication didn't work.I was then put onto verapamil and sumaptrapyn self injecting pens; these would stop the headaches pretty quickly and eventually the verapamil started to kick in, I even had nerve block injection in the base of my head to try and alleviate these headaches, but I had faith in my neurologist and thankfully I'm fairly free from them now, at least I've got a cure and I wouldn't wish these headaches upon anyone else, best of luck .
