I had my second aura migraine recently, it was frightening, it started off as neuralgia facial pain, then suddenly turned into aura migraine affecting both eyes , worse in right eye, the black and silver zig zags last 10mins then I seem to get a split second piecing pain in eye and awful migraine. After zig zag went I was left with eye ache it both eyes which last several days. I did ring emergency services as was told last time it could be related to TIA, paramedic came and checked me over and all was ok.
The only tablet I'm able to take is sumatriptan 50mg, due to lots of allergies. Also recently with sumatriptan I can only have the make accord as it doesn't contain Mannitol.
I do wonder if aura migraines are caused by stress.
Any advice most welcome.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Hello Amethyst I'm so sorry to hear about your very frightening experience
I had my first aura migraine when I was at school aged 14 I remember it so clearly as if it was yesterday it was terrifying
Then I had nothing until my 20's when a doctor thought I also had had a small stroke I was checked out and all ok
Since then I have had loads and loads I'm 73 now
Mine were very related to hormones with starting periods, pregnancy, menopause but I definitely also have them because of stress
I had one yesterday and I know that was stress I had said a couple of days before I felt very stressed this week
Mine also start in my right eye it's a tiny little zig zag that gets bigger and spreads to both eyes then after about 20 mins they just drift away
I know the pattern of them so well and know they will come and they will go
Mine always start by a blind spot I can't see half of a clock or someone's face etc I actually find that the most frightening bit and I'm relieved when the zig zags come
When the zig zags start I just relax as must as possible and think "here I go again "
I see them as a little warning to take care slow down and practice more relaxation methods
I've lost my fear of them over the years although they are just such horrible things
I get numbness in my fingers and it feels as if someone is squeezing my head and I just feel "groggy" for a while not so much pain now thankfully
My advice would be to accept they are "just" aura ( by that I'm not trivialising them as I know how horrible they are are ) but nothing worse It takes the fear away, they are a nuisance keep a record see if you can identify any triggers and practice as much lovely relaxation methods as you can
I'm sorry I have no advice on medication as I don't take anything mine luckily have never been that regular to impact on my life
