Water and magnesium

Just been to the pharmacy to fill my prescription and she was alarmed by the number of drugs I take and told me I needed to drink more water and take high dose magnesium marine (4 tablets)when I get initial signs of a migraine and that will stop them. Just like that! Well why haven't any GPs or neurologist said that. I know she was only trying to help and I think I'll switch my magnesium from citrate to marine and see. Anything is worth trying. Did feel she was telling me off though!

I believe her. I don't know much about magnesium marine. I use Magnisium glycinate and I take it 3x a day at 500mg. I also try to drink as much water as I can. I uses citrate and it didn't work for me.. so I switch. Just a warning if you take it and you don't see much of a difference it might take up to 3 months to work. But at 6 month if you still don't have less ans they are less painful you should try a different type.

Best to you!

I have never seen the marine form of magnesium before.

My neurologist pushes water and some magnesium, which I was already on magnesium oxide. I added magnesium glycinate at lunch and dinner as well. It helps with the constipation I was experiencing with the emgality and my blood pressure med. If I take the lunch and dinner doses too close together, I experience a laxative effect 🙄😯.

I'm in the USA.

Didn't make an difference to my migraines, I take it for Osteopenia for years. Its just one thing someone can try. The drinking water thing really annoys me, I should think very few of us are getting migraines from dehydration. Just because one of the symptoms of dehydration is headache doesn't mean we should be drinking more water than normal. It doesn't hurt at least.

I swear if one more person tells me that I can cure my chronic migraines of the last 30 years by drinking water I will not respond in a festive manner! 😁

Ha ha, yes. I’ve had migraines since I was a teenager and I’m 60 now so I think that if water and magnesium were a cure then at least one doctor might have mentioned it. I drank loads of water yesterday and voila today I have a migraine.

Yeah my neurologist said the data on magnesium is out of date and was inconclusive anyway.
