Bad migraines and some hearing loss

Hi. I have been suffering migraines for nearly a year now. The frequency has increased in recent months and I have suffered some hearing loss in one ear, with a fullness and humming which is constant. The results of a brain scan came back fine, and I have an ENT appointment in September which seems so long away though. I have tried amitriptyline which doesn't seem to help at all. Do I have to just put up with it until then? Considering the brain scan result i guess I shouldn't be worried (but can't help but do). And will I get my hearing back?

Hi I've suffered posterior circulation migraine for around 2 yrs, amongst other symptoms I suffer hearing problems in my right ear but only during a migraine and then it returns afterwards. It starts of with a ringing in my ear and this how I know a migraine is coming, then ringing gets louder, then blurred vision, dizziness and pain on right side of head and back of head,I also get slight numbness to right side of face and if severe I might have trouble with speech, but after migraine my hearing returns to normal as do other symptoms. Like you I had a scan and it showed past history of a lacuna stroke which they said was probably in my sleep as I don't remember it. It also showed evidence of the start of narrowing in arteries at back of head hence diagnoses of posterior circulation migraines. I too was given amitriptyline but was only somewhat effective,I finally found relief with lamictal which is used to treat epilepsy I believe but it works well for me. It's best you let ENT look at your ear as I say my hearing always returns after. If amitriptyline is not working for you, don't be afraid to go back to doctors and try other meds that might suit you. Good luck hope you find relief 😊

I sometimes get a headache that develops during the day which paracetamol usually sorts out. But the worst ones always start when I'm asleep as I wake up with them. It feels like I've been hit in the back the head with something. And i have it all day and no pain relief medication will shift it. I'm obviously relieved the scan showed nothing but having to wait until September before ENT look in the ear is so frustrating. And I'm pretty sure the headaches and the ear thing are connected.
