I'm wondering if anyone else has similar experience with migraines. Mine are always the same pattern. First I get extreme fatigue which sets in during early evening. This I now know is my early warning sign.
Then slowly there is a very dull mild headache...almost as if maybe the real headache won't develop. Then it may start to ache more and more. I fall asleep at bedtime exhausted usually with a little head pain or none yet at this point, hoping it will go away. I might take a pain medicine depending on how bad it is.
But then I wake up in the early morning hours (1 - 3am) with extreme head pain that lasts for 4-6 hours. I used icepacks on my head. I take Tylenol or Ibuprofen, or sometimes Exedrin if it is really bad. Mine are always at night like this.
Question: Anyone else experience this odd, extreme fatigue, wiped out feeling, early warning sign and know what it means? What about also only getting headaches at night / waking up from sleep ?
are these cluster headaches? Migraines? They happen almost daily and then might stop for a week and then start again. Sometimes I get 15 per month.

My migraines are often like this. I'm an insomniac so when I get this extreme tiredness I sometimes fall asleep on the sofa for 20 minutes around early evening which is very out of character for me. My husband will start putting the kids to bed bc he knows I must be broken, regardless of how tired I am I still don't sleep much normally and I never nap during the day.Often my worst migraines are the ones I wake with although I do get many that develop at other times a day, this is the most common pattern for me.
I also get migraines for around 15 days a month and have done for the last 25ish years. Prodrome is a funny thing.
You would know if they're cluster headaches, I'm a sufferer of these types, they are normally quite brief but very intense, they are called suicide headaches because of the intense pain, so much so they are known to be the most painful thing mankind can go through, you need to see a neurologist to sort out any type of headaches or migraines, I've tried different medications over the last couple of years and finally managed to break the cycle I was having numerous headaches a day, and they took me to dark places I'd rather not even mention, cluster headaches are truly awful experience, but without a diagnosis you may not find the right cure, there's medication available and hopefully you can relive your pain, best of luck!
I myself feel hyperactive in the morning before a migraine starts,it's almost like I have endless energy,as the day goes on I become tired and yawn a lot, this is when I get dizziness and right side of my face tingles which travels into my right arm, sometimes my vision blurs. For me the headache is the last thing to come starting at the back of head which travel round right side of head. My doctor says feelings of hyperactivity and fatigue are common prior to migraine attack
