I am waiting to hear back from a different hospital than my usual one on starting the injection Aimovig for my chronic migraine. Due to covid-19 and all appointments being cancelled I probably won't hear back until this is all over and hospital appointments start back up. I am currently using oramorph to manage my migraines but I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas in can try to see if it helps. I have had chronic migraine for 10 years and in those 10 years I haven't had 1 day without a migraine I have them from the time I wake up till I'm going to sleep at night. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Good luck. I have found a great group of preventative medications that have reduced my migraines, BUT I will say I work daily on not skipping meals, always eating protein at each meal, sleeping well and decreasing neck and back pain.
I have had migraine for over 20 years and have not "cured" them, but now take magnesium glycinate 450 mg 3x a day and I can go all day without much pain. I also take Fever few 2x a day.
When pain comes I use ice, pepsi , roll on peppermint oil and hot peppermint tea.
In addition I listen to the Podcast "Heads Up", they are 2 migraine specialist from the UK that have changed my life!! In addiction I use migraineworldsummit.com/ to learn as much as I can about how to manage my life.
Hi Shann. I wish you all the best with Aimovig. You will need to get off the morphine you are taking right now as soon as you can. Have you ever been offered Botox injections? Have you even been prescribed Triptans? I hope you will get your appointment soon and make sure you have a list of questions you want to ask during the appointment.
Yeah once I get seen and approved I'll come off the oramorph. I have tried 3 lots of botox but it made absolutely no difference same with triptans. Thank you yeaah I will make sure to have all questions answered
I suffer from non-aura migraines and my daughter suffers from migraines at least 5 days a week. After 15 months of trying alternate meds required by insurance (we are in the states) she finally got her Aimovig 3 days ago. She’s been a bit slower the last couple of days. Too soon to tell just yet. I hope you get what you need to make the difference
My migraines are well controlled with my current cocktail I have other comorbidities) so I am on topiramate, gabapentine, duloxetine and baclofen. I rarely have more than 2 migraines a month and they don’t last too long. I also supplement with B2, COQ10 and Magnesium.
I’ll keep you posted on the Aimovig adventure. Just for reference, the cash price for it here is $798! Thankfully, it’s covered by her insurance. This is probably why they made her (and her neurologist) jump through flaming hoops over the last year+ in order to prescribe it. It is approved for one year and she has to have neuro visits every 3 months.
