Hello all. I have been having a lot of trouble with sleep since my change of medication. I was put on Duloxetine in November, and at first I was wide awake all of the time and able to sleep normally at night, but then once the old medication wore off and I was solely on the duloxetine, all I wanted to do was sleep. It was a tiredness like I’ve never felt, I can’t describe it. I spoke to the doctor who suggested taking my medication at night, which has instantly resulted in me not being able to sleep. I have since had my medication increased, and now take 30mg in the morning and 60 mg in the evening which is what the doctor suggested after the increase. I just can’t get to sleep, and when I do nod off I constantly wake up throughout the night and struggle to get back to sleep. I preferably don’t want to have to go on to sleeping tablets. I’ll stick with this regime until I’m used to it to see if eventually it sorts itself out, but my body is already fighting with me for rest.

Sleep and medication
You need to make a list of your sleep pattern
For example time to bed
When you had supper.
Did you Bathe before sleep, what time
What time did you get up
Periods of sleep, going to bed etc are habit forming Your body gets used to a certain time.
When you awake do you feel Anxious or do you dwell on the past day.

Don't do it!Do not push sleep away. Find another answer to help you to sleep normally. I recently went through the results of sleep deprivation and believe me you do not want to go there. It feels as if you have drifted into a different world and your own true self and world have no memory in your mind. You feel like you are just living a different life, and for me, even though it lasted only 1-2 days, it seemed like a lifetime. I am feeling better bit by bit each day and realize that what I experienced was possibly some type of hallucination, but I am not sure. Do not deprive yourself from sleep. Just don't.
I'm on duloxetine too I take 120mg in the morning. I'm generally extremely tired anyway I'm not sure if its meds, my mental health, vivid dreams or whatever. I have to take promethazine at night to help me have a unbroken nights sleep - it's a anti histamine medication but I also use it for anxiety attacks as well.
Hi, I take 60mg twice a day for various illnesses but have been on it so long I cant remember if it affected my sleep pattern or not🤪🙄.......mind you I cant remember much of a sleep pattern at all tbh..
I’m lucky if I sleep for more than an hour at a time due to pain+calls of nature, fluid intake etc.
But, I also take sooooo many other meds for other things as well and I think Im sorta used to things now🙄
