Lowering prednisalone

I have lowered from 3 to 2mg prednisalone every second day and am getting very bad depression. Is there a better way of lowering prednisalone?

You may need to slow down reducing the medication, go back and increase the dose and take half cuts of the drug every two to three weeks. I do not know how long you have been on Prednisalone it does take time and encouragement to come of them

Thanks. I will try your advice. Been on pred about 3 years.

Hi there is a reason why they call these the devils pills. You are suffering from the steroid lows which always happens when you cut back too much. I have copd and when I have a chest infection I usually need those along with ab's. I fee great once I am on them but have a real downer when I finish the course. x.

Hi Shandon1

I have only had prednisone a few times when I've really struggled with my breathing, but my mum has been on them for years! I was told not to stop taking them or adjust them without supervision, like cough when I did stop them my mood went low, and I landed face first & felt Really rough & my mood went whey, bang!! My Dr was not impressed with me at all!! I can see you've been on them for a few years & want to cut them down! But really you should go back to the person who gave them to you or your GP to ensure you are totally safe & you don't have to go through too much grief or getting too down when you finally stop taking them if your Dr agrees!

Do you find them helpful? Or are you're just taking them because they have been given to you in your normal medication each month & your GP hasn't told you, you can stop taking them or are they needed to keep to your body/condition stable? Sorry, I hate asking that question!! I

know it can be difficult & frustrating when I've taken medication for a number of years that I start to ask the question do I really have to keep taking these pills & to what detriment would it be if I stopped taking them? I feel it's good to question, so you can have some control over what you take!

Good Luck getting things sorted out for your best interests!
