Swelling every time after masturbation

Hi, I’ve had this problem for around 4 years now and it happens every single time I masturbate. It took me a long time to speak to anyone about it as I was very embarrassed, basically the skin of the penis swells up after I masturbate and over time it’s left the skin looking wrinkly (like stretch mark lines), I don’t masturbate aggressively or often at all (like once a month). So I’ve started to worry because I don’t have a clue what’s wrong with it and there doesn’t seem to be much/if anything about it online. I got circumcised in April because it got to the point I hated how it looked and it was affecting my mental health. (The majority of the wrinkly skin was on the foreskin so it looks better now). I’ve since only masturbated twice since the operation and both times it’s swelled up, and I just want to find out what’s wrong with my penis and get it sorted now because it’s really messing with my mental health, any help or advice is really appreciated, thanks! 😊

Maybe use lube when you masturbate BUT I'd probably go to the docs. They've seen it all, and what is traumatic to you and me will be run of the mill to them, and then you're on the journey, in the process etc.

I use Vaseline which I assume is ok, if I’m honest tho I don’t think that’s the issue, bcos it’s been happening so often I’m extra gentle when I do it so for it to swell every time, just doesn’t make much sense to me. I will go to the docs , thanks for the reply.

I think Vaseline is 'skin safe' but lube is slippier. But pleased you're going to the Drs - well done.

Because it's worrying you, I would get checked out by your doctor.In my own case, I didn't have this happen before my circumcision, but for months afterwards my penis would go very red and remain swollen for ages whenever I masturbated. Settled down eventually tho

Hmm. What about sex? And did u tell this to the urologist? Maybe balantitis? Maybe yeast infection?

I’ve never had any swelling from sex, it’s just from masturbating, it’s even happened when women have done it, which isn’t ideal. I told my urologist about it before the Circumsision and he wasn’t sure on the reason it was happening and told me to get in contact again if it kept on happening after Circumsision, so I’m going to contact him as soon possible.

So here's what's probably a really dumb question - but how's your hand hygiene? Do you work in a soap powder factory? Do you use normal soap when you wash your hands? I'm just asking since you say it's OK when you have sex (I presume you mean penetration). Do you have sex with a condom? (Just looking for differences).

I’ve never thought that could be the cause to be honest but no I use regular hand wash and my hand hygiene is fine. I’ve never had swelling from sex with or without a condom so it’s definitely not a sex thing. It first happened a few times when I was abit younger like 13 but didn’t think much of it cos it was only a couple times and never happened again till I was like 18 and then ever since it happens every time now. I’m gonna go to the doctors but if you can think of any reasons this is happening I’d appreciate your opinion as doctors don’t seem to know much about this really. Someone in the comments mentioned balantitis or a yeast infection but I don’t know.

The area that swells up is always the same part of the skin if that adds any context (just below the head to the left)

You comment on this occurring after you were circumcised. I wouldn't know from personal experience being circumcised at birth, but I understand that uncircumcised men can masturbate without a lubricant. You don't mention whether you are using lube now. If not, you should.

I would get an appointment with your doctor, and when you go take a picture on your phone of the swelling to show them what the issue is

Allergy maybe? U could be allergic to something that's coming in contact with penis during masturbation. Try changing out lotions and soaps, go for hypo allergenic and unscented. Do u Clean up afterwards? As in wash it off with water? Also look up candida and balantitis. The part that swells does it come in contact with hand? What kind of work do u do? Is there a substance that u work with? Gets on ur hands?

I’ll look up those thanks. I think it initially started due to masturbating for too long with no lube, but ever since then I am very gentle and use a lube. Is it possible that the skin on my penis is now extremely sensitive and that’s why it swells ?

Going out on a limb here because I'm not a Dr; but could it be related to the arteries and veins that were cut during the circumcision. That's just speculation. Maybe not enough venous drainage or something.

It was happening years before Circumsision so I don’t think it’s that, I could be wrong tho.
