7th week post partial circumcision - Experience so far !!

Hi, I am on my 7th week post partial circum, I would like to share some of my experience just in case anyone here looking to go for Partial Circumcision.

To start with I had severe phimosis and a mild Balanitis (haven't seen the glans in 35 years), so my surgeon suggested two options - full circum or partial, after talking to him I decided to go for partial followed by frenuloplasty.

The op went smooth and I still have my foreskin that covers more than 60% of my glans at flaccid. The good part is I can keep my foreskin either retracted behind the glans or on top if depending upon my likings and situation. Obviously, if I keep it on top of glans then the desensitization will take more days/weeks compared to full circumcised glans. So long story short, if I am working from home then I keep the skin retracted and if I am going outside then yola the skin is on top of glans and boom NO SENSITIVITY unless I see a hot chic :D

Jokes aside: the first 4 weeks were a nightmare because I had my urethra opening red and swelled and any touch or a stream of water was hell painful, The head started to settle down in week 5 and 6 and now I am in such a situation that I can put a lukewarm stream of water directly on the glan and corona (I have a standing shower). Though I started touching my fingers directly on the glans but any rubbing still cause tremendous discomfort. To encounter this, I recently ordered a castor oil and going to apply and getting used to it from next week onwards. But I always have plan B if I am going out or for any sort of outdoor activities I mentioned I always pull back the foreskin on top of my glans to avoid any discomfort.

Not sure why online forums and many people on blogs won't suggest going for partial circum, but I would say based on my experience is if you have a good competent surgeon who knows the stuff well then there is no harm going for partial circum as it would be the best of both worlds and you would always have an option to go full if you don't like the results. For me, the deciding factor was not getting rid of the complete foreskin which I am used to seeing for past 35 years :)

Feel free to DM me in case of any further information in relation to partial circumcision. By the way, I am from Ireland (Dublin).

Hey..thanks for your information. I also had partial circumcision almost 3 weeks over.My glans are also partially seen but when I pull back the foreskin fully back the inner glans are so much sensetive. I have one que that after fully erected penis also I have some foreskin left on some glan so whne I will do sex, will my foreskin go back fully or not .??

Ideally when erect you should not have any skin on the corona of glans. For me as soon as I get erection, I could see my outer foreskin glides back and I could see pink inner skin. At full erection my outer skin goes back around 3-4cm back on shaft leaving just inner pink skin behind corona. For you I would suggest try to pull back your outer skin behind corona, this might be bit uncomfortable at start as your corona is still very sensitive.

Ok..I will pull back the skin today when in erection stage. If possible can I send you the photos to check the condition??

No photos are not allowed on this forum. Sure try it amd stop as soon as you feel discomfort or pain. Because it might still be healing. Is your frenulum got loose as well?

It should not feel any tension if your surgeon has loosen a bit of your frenulum also. Check with your surgeon and see what he says. For me I have never faced any tension ever on the frenulum side.

I'm 9 days in from a freehand partial circ, done on the NHS, with a very understanding and cooperative surgeon. I had a scarred phimotic ring and virtually no normal skin left on frenulum, almost all scarred, & suffered for about 37 years with tearing and splitting. Finally decided enough was enough, and like you opted for a partial, but with the frenulum cut so that when erect the foreskin will hopefully be tight enough to stay back without much friction, but I'll have better sensation with new skin below head at frenulum. I'm convinced I had a short frenulum and that contributed towards my problem. 9 days in, i'm waiting patiently for swelling between incision and head to go down. First 3-4 nights were horrendous due to erections, but relieved when major swelling receded. I've found stretchy supportive sports underwear helps to keep my junk in place without movement. What was your recovery regime, and do you have any tips on getting the swelling down quicker?

I've been slathering the whole area in Bepanthen and vaseline and bandaging to keep area moist, warm and compressed, and taken to a salt cup bath every evening. The bepanthen helps stop scabbing but promotes recovery like in tattoo application where you don't want it to scab but keep moist.

Like you am hoping to have enough foreskin to cover the head a little if wanted.

They should definitely offer more partials on NHS but suppose it depends on severity of case.

Hi, for quick recovery I too used a lot of Bepantiseptic cream along with EMLA 5% local anaesthetic cream in first two weeks. My stitches started to fall off by 4th and 5th day and I was complete stitch free by 8th day. Though there was an exception happened in my case, one of the stitch knot stuck between meutus (urethra opening) and frenulum and my area was so sensitive that I did not have courage to take it off by hand or cotton at that time. So I rang my surgeon and he called me over and put took it away along with nice good clean and a final touch. This was on 10th day and this second appointment really helped in the quick recovery. Though he did all this while putting me on general anaesthesia as I was hypersensitive at that time. So long story short, I am on my week 7th and all I can say is the sensations and swelling if head is no more and I can wear loose boxers now. But any dry rubbing with hand is still a nightmare.

Hi I just got zsr with frenuloplasty and partial circumcision, so in my case the staple pins and ring are inside the skin below the glans??

Good luck with the recovery. Not sure about zsr technique. I had the cut via laser and upper foreskin sticked to inner via dissolvable stitches. So no staple pins or ring in my case.

Thank you for sharing your experience. So it is normal to have some foreskin covering a small percentage of the glands when one is circumcised? Mine doesn't cover 60% when flaccid or cold lol but it covers about ~20% and was wondering if that's normal?

Yep perfectly normal. You should able to pull the skin back and take it back to the normal position without any resistance. That’s what is important.
