Everyone heals at different rates but for me it was around day 10. All of a sudden the sensitivity dropped, I stopped using Vaseline, and also stopped using the cricket box. Tight cotton briefs seem to work best for me but it really depends on your anatomy.

It’s going to take time for everything to desensitize and go back to normal.I got cut nearly 5 weeks ago and it’s only now that I can start to wear underwear without wrapping it in gauze and Vaseline. That said I stopped protecting my glans on Monday and 6 days later it’s nearly keratinised 100% and it’s much less sensitive..You can go the route I did and protect it until the wound etc is healed or you can do what others(braver than me) do and just bite the bullet and let it desensitize much sooner. If you want to minimise the discomfort then get tight boxers, micropore material if poss as that doesn’t rub as much.Wrap the glans with some Vaseline and gauze and keep your penis upright, soak it in warm salty water twice a day for a few minutes, make sure you wash the salty water off thoroughly though as it might cause irritation,Leave it exposed to the air as much as possible, don’t use fragranced body wash or shampoo as that’ll irritate as well.It just takes time, some guys seem fine after a few weeks, some take months for everything to settle down, but it will settle down at some point.

It’s gonna take months. I’m 2.5 months and still discomfort here and there. Best advise I can give you is don’t use anything to mask it from touching your pants other then gauze. Don’t use Vaseline. Go to cvs or rite aid by the non stick pads. CVS has like 25 in a box, they are 2x3 inches and take 2 and make a little protector around your penis with it. Let that touch your penis and don’t wear underwear for a good 3 weeks or so just let it rub against your shorts. After 3-4 weeks take off the pads and let it slowly rub against your underwear. Change the pads daily or every 2-3 days.

Yeah I kind of bit the bullet on it. My method was to buy a cricket box so I could start wearing underwear and jeans. That got me more mobile, the glans got air and the occasional bump from the box and eventually on day 3 of box wearing I thought I'd try it without. This coincided with the glans having gone from a scabby wet gory thing to looking more or less what a glans should look like. Box out, tight briefs on, position carefully (a little uncomfortable at first) and get on with it. I'm day 15 now and sleeping on my front in briefs with no issue. My starting point was a red raw balanitis-scarred dick so I'm amazed by the speed it's healed. But, the thing is that the glans is so well served with nerve endings and blood supply that if you're a fast healer it will heal quick. Think of how quick your mouth heals from an ulcer or biting the side of it when eating, or burning it with hot pizza etc

Hi dillanh, it can vary quite a bit. Did you have phimosis? If so It can take longer to desensitize but it will in time. Try to wear some snug fitting boxer briefs preferably ones without the seam down the middle of the pouch you just have to bare with it for a few days. If you need to go out then use some gauze dressing but I would prefer not to use any Vaseline as this will only prolong the sensitivity. If the wound is still weeping then you should use some non adhering dressing. I'd prefer to sleep naked with just a light sheet. Hope this helps you out 👍🏻

Everyone is different and also affected by whether the circumcision was dictated by serious phimosis or by other reasons.

When a friend of mine (23 at the time) got circiumcised, primarily because of frenulum breve (but no phimosis) and also for aesthetics, he had no 'down time' and went away on holiday the day after surgery, being fully dressed and mobile all the time with very little discomfort.

The ones that usually take longest to heal are the ones who had phimosis, as I did. I was never able to retract my foreskin to reveal the glans so my entire life it was covered. That’s why for me the sensitivity is still an issue at 2.5 months

Depends with how your body heals as for me all my stitches had fallen off in 8 days then day 10 i was back work wearing clothes wit no problem but only sensitivity was just irritating only but other that all its good now 6 weeks

Time depends on your healing. I wrapped mine in a large gauze pad inside jock shorts to keep it from rubbing and hurting. Helped me sleep and deal with erections.

We all heal at different rates for me it was weeks, others it is days. Do not rush things. Some good advice here for relieving discomfort.
