When can underwear be used again and what type? Also, what recommendations to offset friction sensitivity since it’s been 31 days since procedure? Thanks for the insight.

Friction and sensitivity
Hi,I’m in the same situation, got cut 30 August and am very sensitive on the glans.Wear tight underwear that keeps your penis pointing up and some gauze with petroleum jelly around your glans. This has worked fine for me up till now,but I need to try and actively desensitize my glans as I can’t wrap my penis up 24/7.So today I got one of those drawstring sunglass bags made of micropore and put a tiny bit of petroleum jelly on the tip of my penis and put it over my penis and held it in place with Coban bandage. It’s been most of a day now and it’s bearable so far,I’m sure it’s going to get easier day by day,I think you just have to grit your teeth at some point and get on with it..it’s not a fun thought I know but it’s got to happen sooner or later. If it’s too sensitive with Vaseline then try a dab of antiseptic cream with anesthetic in from the chemist to take some of the sting away.Good luck👍
If you’re using Vaseline start slowly parting ways with it, it’s a great tool but it will not help your body get used to that raw feeling. Since you’re past a month, try doing this: wear shorts with nounderwear for 2-3 weeks, then after that wear loose underwear and let it rub against it. First week of that will be a little annoying but trust the process. That’s all I did. I used Vaseline maybe 2 days max
This is my experience too. Ultimately the head needs to desensitise and get used to underwear. For me, tight briefs were the answer, good old Y-fronts in fact. 100% cotton or bamboo ideally
How was the first 31 days - I am planning to do surgery in mid October and have a v responsible position at work - so whilst I can work from home I need to be able to go to work on the odd occasion to just be there - I have taken 4 days off after the procedure to give some time to adjust -
If I can’t wear underwear for a month that’s going to be v difficult ! Did you choose to not wear because you could ? Or is it just impossible to wear underwear after procedure.
I am hoping I can cover glans with gauze and get on with life ……….? Unrealistic ??
After my dressings came off I did loosely wrap mine in tissue with a piece of adhesive tape at the base to hold it in place on days I couldn't be seen 'adjusting myself'. On the days you can work from home no problem. We're all different so see what suits you best, tight briefs, loose cotton boxers or nothing. The more you protect it the longer it will take to stop feeling uncomfortable, personally I bit the bullet, went commando and got it over with in maybe ten days. Good luck.
Googled fir information regarding post procedure and that provided somewhat of the after procedure process. Tried to wear some but it wasn’t possible. After a week, began wearing a jock and cup. That helped with the sensitivity and allowed fir more movement with minor irritation. Best of luck since it seems that everyone heals differently. Did not expect such an extended healing time but will bear through it and hopefully it will all soon be behind me. Best of luck.
Everyone is different. I'm blogging my recovery at circ.blog . I was back to work after a week and the sensitivity is almost gone now. Two days ago it was still too much, then it just suddenly changed. Slept on my front last night for the first time since the op, which was about ten days ago
Were you used to retract your foreskin and expose your glan to external environment such as friction etc prior to the surgery? And is your frenulum still in tact?
Wasn’t able to retract prior to surgery and frenulum not intact. Will be meeting with surgeon tomorrow for another follow up but this is becoming very frustrating.
I am of the same boat too, never retracted the foreskin and this is factor that causes intense level of sensitivity. It will settle down in months time, just make yourself comfortable and grit through the discomfort. I didn't even apply any oil or protective lubricants; just experimented on several types of underwears and opt for the one that is most bearable for the time being. I am about to complete 10 months since my surgery last November. Eventually there will be only some areas left to settle down like the meatus and frenulum area.
You should be using tight boxer briefs and use cotton or modal material. In my case I started desensitizing before my circumcision by leaving the foreskin pulled back during the day so it was easier after the procedure. I would recommend to not use anything like gauze or jelly as you will never get used to the sensation. If it extremely sensitive use a gauze to go out but as soon as you get home take it off.
Sorry to go against the other guys (or it maybe a way of biting the bullet?) but I wore loose trousers and no underwear. What I can say, like the other guys, is that you either have to get it over and done with quickly and uncomfortably or slowly slowly with increasing exposure over time but you do have to do it! Good luck, hope you enjoy your new dick.
I'd like to remind you. There are two different things. It is suggested to use a gauze on wound until it is healed and there is no discharge anymore, but no one ask you to cover your glans. It's different situation if you have wounded glans with moist and infected spots. Then it might be better to use paraffin gauze, petroleum jelly or whatever your healthcare provider suggest to apply onto glans.
Hi you have some very good advice above from the guys. My advice would be if your wounds are healed your glans need to desensitize so it needs to be exposed to your underwear. I would suggest using some snug fitting boxer briefs if you could find ones with no seem in the middle of the pouch. If you need to use some gauze dry to wrap your glans but try not to if you can. It will desensitize at some point you will just realise it not as bad and you will not notice it anymore 👍🏻
Agreed. I'm on day 13, still have stitches and a bit of swelling yet miraculously the sensitivity is pretty much gone. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones. It's still sensitive, but not to the point it's like an electric shock or ice water every time it brushes against my underwear. The only downside is that I'm horny so the contact with underwear is causing partial erections, as is going for a wee
Hi that all sounds very normal hopefully the stitches will soon go it will heal much faster then. The sensitivity Just goes like that it's strange. The random boners will ease off to the stitches don't really help that 😊
Yeah, I'm constantly aware of the stitches, and therefore of my dick, and therefore of the need to avoid erections, which of course results in erections. Which are getting less painful each day. Very thankful that my surgeon left plenty of slack (my residual foreskin completely covers the coronal ridge) at my request because I grow rather than show
You can trim the ends of the stitches that might help once they are gone it will heal up much quicker. when you are a grower you would need a little more foreskin lift you will probably have some bunching behind the glans when flaccid when everything settles down.
