My boyfriend aged 25 had phimosis (diagnosed around 10 years ago) and in March had a circumcision. it's been 10 weeks now and his glans are still uncomfortable and hypersensitive. He had some betnovate prescribed to help 2 weeks ago but he seems to be at a standstill. Please can someone tell me it gets better? And how? we've never had sex because he knew he had awful pain- we thought this would be the fix.
He says if he touches it slowly then it hurts, but when done quicker, it's not as bad. It still doesn't look like it's keratinised so could that be it- that it simply needs more time to keratinise? The scar line seems to be pretty much fine now.

Sensitivity will die down slowly. For each person its different and how fast keratinization occurs. Even i had the surgery like exactly 8 weeks ago and have little swelling and sensitivity more closer to scarline.but rest of it is more keratinised. He may just require more time to keratinise. Tell him not to worry. The desensitization process is different for each person. Since he had phimosis the sensitivity will be higher and take longer since his head was covered with no way to be exposed
Desensitising does take time. It will help if he starts becoming accustomed to touch. I started by running the spray from the shower onto the head. Increase length of time and pressure slowly. Some suggest wearing a condom for sex, if in a permanent relationship, but I found this uncomfortable when removing.Once I could bear touch I started gently applying cocoa butter. This stops the head drying out to much while preserving some sensitivity.
