Urinating after circumcision

I’m a mid 40’s male and was circumcised 7 days ago. Things seem to be healing ok but I’m finding urinating really strange as I’m used to doing this with a foreskin-I’m finding I’m reaching for something that’s no longer there which I guess is understandable. Has anyone else experienced this and what do you do to ensure the head is kept dry and clean after urinating?

After you pee have a clean hand towel get the corner wet from the sink taps and pat it with warm clean water that’s what I do.

I didn’t know there was different styles to be honest, no one asked me about that. What does a medium mean?

No worries mate was just curious if all honest. Medium cut is just basically between a low and a high cut in simple words.

When you say ‘dry and clean’ what happened when urinating with a foreskin? Just curious

It probably sounds a but strange the way I’ve said it. I’m used to getting the drips off by manipulating the foreskin back and forth and it’s weird at the moment cos that’s not there if that makes sense?

Basically you need to ‘milk’ it and shake it as best you can. Of course, if toilet paper is on hand then use that.

You may find that the swelling causes you to 'spray' when urinating, in which case do it sitting down until the coherent jet re-appears.

Without a foreskin you don't have to worry about getting rid of the remaining trapped urine. Just give your penis a shake and the last drop will detach - job done!

Yeah there’s a short learning curve and bit of practice to peeing straight without spraying. My tip there would be to ensure you really need to go to ensure there’s a bit of pressure before letting go. Otherwise with a weak stream it can ‘meander’ like an old fashioned tap barely turned on.

Some people, immediately after circumcision and while they are healing, tend to spray while urinating. This is normal. Don’t be worried. Sit and pee. And over weeks as your body heals the pee stream will resolve.

I think you are worried about the last few drops which are usually shaken out by uncut males by yanking their foreskin back and forth at the end. Got circumcised individuals this is obviously not an option. There are few alternatives - as someone else may have indicated you need to do a similar yank the shaft towards the head. Although this will be more gentle and less effective due to the lack of foreskin. It is also dependent on how tightly you are circumcised. Meaning if you have any slack remaining on the skin on the penile shaft. Many circumcised people also shake the glans (penis head) up and down in quick motion to shake off the ironed droplets. And lastly in some cultures an absorbent item is used... eg a bit of toilet paper, or a small bit or clay stone (remanence of a clay brick) to absorb the last urine droplet. The clay brick bit works in the wild.

You have to try and see what works best for you.

You get use to it in time. pretty much you pee and dab your penis with a dry piece of toilet paper. As you heal more, your urine stream will be more steady and easier to aim. first 4 week I sat down and peed.

I will note that in the beginning, peeing was tricky as it would do the multiple stream thing. That goes away. Urinating for me was never difficult in pushing out, but rather aiming in the beginning.

I feel really healthy now that I know that when i pee or ejaculate, none of it is getting tucked underneath the foreskin.

Hi Robert, yeah I had both of those things and was told they’re perfectly normal at that stage so nothing to worry about 👍
