Hi, not always but yes, it could be removed :( that was my case...

my doctor told me that if my penis function properly, if erection didn't cause pain, over tightness or bending at frenulum area then he wouldn't allow the removal. but I've also read many stories from fellows here request the removal for cosmetic reason.

so, to conclude things: for functional reason it is not necessary to remove it as long as no problems occurred, but for esthetic reason, it's a choice to be made by patient.

Yes and no .

It completely depends about the decision of your doctor and the indications. If there are clear indications for removal of frenulum such as short frenulum that will not benefit from frenuloplasty , then it is to be removed .

If your doc also feels that you may benefit from having it removed due to any other indications then he will advice you as such . In both the above , the doctor will advise and tell you why the removal of frenulum will benefit you .

But , If the frenulum can be spared during the circ he will opt to spare it so ultimately it's based on his call.

Personally if it is just for aesthetic appeal I would not want to sacrifice a part of my body so I would go by my doc's word and have it removed only if it's beneficial to my health. All the best !

It depends on your wishes, the normal practice of the doctor or the style of the circumcision.

Since the frenulum joins the back of the glans to the inner foreskin, if one has a 'low' cut (which removes as much as possible of the inner foreskin) the frenulum effectively has to go too.

The sole purpose of the frenulum is to _assist_ the foreskin to re-cover the glans as an erection subsides. Without a foreskin after circumcision the frenulum becomes completely redundant. Cosmetically, most would agree that it is better removed.

Whatever the method or style of circumcision you are having done, it is important to tell the doctor during the pre-op consultation what you want done with your frenulum.
