What types of circumcision are there? And what’s best to get if I get the choice?

I have phimosis and I’m getting circumcised. I have 1 more appointment before my surgery and if I get the choice what circumcision is best to get??

It depends from your anatomy. Not everyone can get as many different styles. In case you will, I will be asking a few questions now to make your mind up:

1) Do you prefer having your glands exposed at all time or not? Plus, would you mind losing the foreskin to masturbate with and getting a lube to do it? If that's the case. Go for a tight circumcision (you got to be a shower for this style in most of the cases)

2) do prefer having your glands half covered when flaccid and being able to masturbate with still using your foreskin? Go for the loose circumcision. Either if you are a grower or a shower, it won't matter.

Last but but not least: a would get something between a low and high cut.

Exactly.. of course you don't have the ridged band but the scarline which is less stretchy. The difference is minimised though. I am also learning about foreskin restoration, with a loose cut, you can use straight away some devices and can be fully restored quicker

I would recommend High and Tight but that depends on your anatomy and the surgeon.

You won’t get much choice if it’s for phimosis so I wouldn’t sweat over it if I were you. The tight part has to be removed so that in itself determines where the cut line will be. If severe and unable to retract then the surgeon will have to cut down from the opening and then around. Either way, expect a low cut that looks similar to others on here circumcised for same reason.

Do bear in mind that many of the brief answers here are just individual opinions! User1957 makes the important point that the purpose of your circumcision is to relieve you of phimosis, so the restricted area is the part that most needs to be dealt with. But you should have some say over how tight you want to be. To those who clearly advocate "high and tight", I would say that your views about whether you want a scar, with probable accompanying change of skin colour and texture part way up your shaft, have to be taken into account.

My personal view is that a low cut has the best visual appearance, but it comes at the expense of a potential greater loss of sensitivity. So do do your research before deciding - it's a big decision, and essentially irreversible!

I find low cuts really ugly. High looks much better to me, but I prefer not to be cut at all. But talk to your doctor about a partial circumcision, if it does not work out you could always go for a full. Keep in mind that everyone is different and some hate their circumcision, although it seems like most men that had phimosis are happy they did it. Have you tried stretching at all?
