Hi, I’m been on HRT for about 5 weeks now but my anxiety has just got worse. I’m having hot flashes today too, i feel my head is about to explode. Shouldn’t I be feeling a little bit better by now or is it too soon. Any thoughts please?

Which Hrt are you on? it may need tweaking or changing. They say to give it atleast 3 months for maximum effect. If you are on Gel or Patches then absorption can be a problem with some women . If symptoms are unbearable speak to your Specialist. Hope you feel better soon.x

Thanks for replying to me. I’m on Oestrogen patches and Progesterone pills that I take for 25 days and then 3 days off. I’ve got an appointment with the doctor on Thursday to talk about maybe increasing the Mirtazipine dosage because my anxiety is still quite high and now I’m getting hot flashes throughout the day. I’m tired and irritable and can’t wait for the day to end. Kind Regards.

Have you had your thyroid checked as symptoms can be very similar to menopause. I know how you feel I have struggled for years too. Hope Gp is understanding and heps you.

hello, I am on Evorel conti patches but I was still having the feeling of my head would explode just like you, I actually had elevated blood pressure. Now I am on tablets for BP and that feeling has gone away. Have you had your BP checked?

I never had problems with BP until I was menopausal x

I'm going through the same thing as you except for I have only been on HRT for 3 and 1/2 weeks but I'm getting no relief in my hot flashes so I was wondering did you ever end up getting the hot flash relief? If so how long did it take of being on HRT?

Hi, I’ve been on HRT sequi patches for 2 months now, and I’m pleased to say that the hot flashes have more or less gone now. I still get the occasional heat in my head but that’s due to my anxiety I think, which unfortunately hasn’t gone.

I tried the gel and pill that was taken orally initially, but that wasn’t doing anything for me. There are lots of other ways to take HRT that you can discuss with your doctor, if you think the treatment you are on isn’t working for you. It’s all a bit of trial and error until you find what suits you best. I hope you find relief soon.

What is the difference between the Estradiol patches and sequi patches? I mean is that like a brand? And what strength are you on? And so how long did it end up of you having to stay on that strength to get relief? Did it take 2 months before it kicked in?

Estradiol patches contain estrogen and I presume you’ll be taking progesterone orally, whereas the Sequi patches combine both hormones. Two weeks estrogen patches are (50g) applied and two weeks progesterone. They are synthetic but the Estradiol is more organic. The hot flashes calmed down in about 4 weeks and I also started to sleep better. Doctors recommend you give every treatment at least 3 months to work. Hope that helps.

Yes I'm taking the Estradiol 0.075 mg patches that you changed twice a week and then I'm taking 200 mg progesterone orally each night. So it sounds like I'm still in a higher dose than you. But since you're saying it did take you a month for the hot flashes to calm down then maybe it will kick in in another week or so since I've been on it 24 days now. Did it just kick in all of a sudden one day? I'm hoping you're right and thinking that maybe it just needs a little bit longer is that what you're saying that maybe it just needs a little bit longer even at this days for it to kick in?

I’m not medically trained, but i think wait a bit longer and if you still don’t feel better you could ask for a hormone test to check that the hormones are being absorbed properly. I found that obtaining as much knowledge about my symptoms as possible helped me to understand. Maybe a menapause group or Dr Louise Newsome are very helpful.

Thank you for your help. Okay I will just wait until my appointment in a week and tell my Dr my concerns/ questions and see what she says. I just hope it will work for me bc I don't know what else to do. I just want some relief soon

I'm not on Facebook as I generally do not like social media. I know everyone is different but I just don't know anyone like me. Thank you
