no period but terrible anxiety

First of all hi to all you fellow sufferers of peri menopause. This is the third month running that anxiety, crying out of the blue and worrying about absolutely everything and anything has hit me hard almost out of nowhere. I had only two periods last year and this year one in January then one in May. My husband asked me this morning would you have been due on around this time. So I checked my calendar and counting on from my period in May I would be due on tomorrow. I was wondering if there are any other ladies out there who have experienced this. My thoughts are with you all 🥲🥹🙃.

Hello!

I experienced disturbed sleep and anxiety as part of peri menopause. The anxiety then caused issues with dermatitis flare ups, digestive problems and raised blood pressure. I was put onto HRT, but it didn’t suit me, so I’m now on low-dose amitriptyline, just to help with getting off to sleep. Right now, that’s working pretty well for me. It seems that every woman is unique in terms of what treatment suits them.

I guess it’s no surprise as what we’re going through is an absolutely enormous change. I would recommend discussing with your GP which intervention may be right for you. I certainly wouldn’t suffer in silence. If your GP isn’t sympathetic, ask for a menopause specialist within the practice. But I believe most GPs try to be sympathetic these days.

Wishing you all the luck in the world in finding the right treatment!

Thank you so much for your response and kind words. Really glad the amitriptyline is helping you I did try HRT patches a few years ago but they didn’t agree with me in fact they made me feel quite suicidal and I was constantly bleeding. This obviously has put me off going down that route again. I’m on Sertraline and have been on and off for a number of years. I had gradually managed to cut the dose right down but now have decided to gradually up it again and pray it starts to help soon. Thank you again 🙏

There’s no shame in taking medication if it helps you. Hopefully you and your GP can find the right answer.
