i am 42 and started suffering with peri menopause about 4 years ago after i had my son. It took a good while to get anybody to take me seriously but i then started on HRT patches even though the drs said i was too young and that my hormone levels are fine. The problem i have is lately my patches just come off most recent i put it on today after a bath ( waited a while first due to moisture on skin) Also my GP have been messing my anti depressants around so haven't been able to take them as prescribed.
Sunday 23rd i begin with a severe anxiety attack ( not been this bad for about 2 years as it causes me to not be able to fall asleep for a moment so i am currently very tired i have tried everything to get to sleep but sadly this is just what it does to me among lots of other things. Does anybody else have a simular issue please? I don't sleep well as i used to anyway but compared to now i do normally sleep well and quickly.

I suffered with horrendous periods a few years ago. This was perimenopause. I saw my Dr, who recommended a coil to stop them. I didn't have it. My Dr said she wouldn't put me on HRT as I didn't suffer from severe hot flushes, might sweats or mood swings. It was just severe periods. Which were erratic, heavy and wouldn't stop. I had to tablets to stop the bleeding.
I have not had a period for a year now. I still have hot flushes but I'm not on HRT.
Unless you have severe symptoms, you shouldn't be taking HRT due to other side effects.
See your Dr and if they suggest not taking it. Then don't they are probably right. You don't need it and that is causing the problems you are having now
You are definitely not too young. I started experiencing perimenopause symptoms in my late 30s. At 44 I have now been told I’m already post menopausal. Diagnosed by several blood tests - FSH/LH/oestrogen level and a scan which shows a thin womb lining and inactive ovaries. That plus all the symptoms.
The specialist said that for early menopause HRT is advised because of risks of osteoporosis and heart problems due to being longer without oestrogen. I have just started on patches.
If your hormone levels are fine then you are probably still in peri.
