I’ve decided to try hrt. Mostly because if I have at least 30 more years ahead of me I want to be me not this person I don’t recognize. I’ve looked for women doctors in the hopes I would have better care of sympathy I guess… no luck so, I went back to my doctor. I trust his judgment and he always took good care of me. I’m really disappointed that ALL the doctors I found support from are male. Can’t get my head and heart around it! I just want to fight the good fight with the time I have left and have no regrets when I go. That’s all.

Hi, I am not sure where you are based however the best way to find a specialist is:

thebms.org.uk/find-a-menopa...

Lots do video telephone initial consultations. I had a hysterectomy this year at 35 gp and gynaecologist were not helpful so I have found a specialist via the bms waiting for my app in June. Don’t suffer in silence keep hunting help is out there as I know I was plunged into menopause dramatically and it’s destroyed me however when the hormones are sorted you will feel so much better xx

Thanks. I’m in the us. Funny menopausal woman being denied hormones since it’s been given out like candy to those who say they’re woman there for they need it !! If it’s safe for them why is it so hard to find someone ( female doctors especially) to administer to us? Anyways, thanks. My appointment is coming soon. I’m so tired of being an alien!!! I feel like there’s someone else sharing my body with me.

I’m 57 & been on it about 9 months now. I really wish I’d done it sooner when I was in my 40’s & peri menopausal but had no idea. I’m sure you won’t regret it but yes it would be so much better if we had more menopause specialists on the NHS.

I can relate to you! All my drs ignored me, said I needed an antidepressant and kept sending me away. I’m 51 and was suffering significantly in my middle 40’s. I was begging for help. My quality of life was poor and didn’t want to be on this earth anymore. Terrible feeling! My primary care put me on a low dose of the estradiol patch and progesterone pill. The estrogen worked great. I was sleeping better and my mood dramatically improved. Over time the progesterone made me feel bloated. My regular gynecologist told me to stop taking them, that I don’t need it because I wasn’t having hot flashes. I guess they don’t know menopause has over 30 symptoms. I stopped taking them because she scared me about my risks. I was worried my lack of sleep would return and a lack of feeling well. It all returned with a vengeance.. I had bad anxiety and wasn’t sleeping again. I found a holistic dr that tested my hormones and prescribed a bio identical hormone cream. It has worked great for the last year and a half. Drs don’t tell you the risks of unbalanced hormones either. Your body functions better when your hormones or balanced. I know HRT isn’t for everyone but it has dramatically changed my quality of life. It’s been a long road of finding someone who would listen to me. I hope that this helps and I can definitely tell you all the things that have helped on this journey. It’s a difficult one because no one wants to talk about the dreaded menopause word and it seems like we have to suffer in silence because it’s such taboo. I hope that hrt will help you too!
