My daughter (age 15) had viral meningitis in September and has suffered from chronic headaches ever since. We are with pediatric headache neurologist and Botox was just approved by our insurance company. We have tried 5 different medications and none have provided relief.
Has anyone had success with Botox treatment... - Meningitis Now
Has anyone had success with Botox treatment for chronic headaches after viral meningitis?
Sorry, I have not heard of that for treatment of headaches. Have you googled it? All the best of luck. Jeffery
I am just recovering from vital meningitis and have had Botox in the past and wanted it again, problem I have is that my doctor has advised whilst I am still taking medication for the pains they won't let me have Botox
I hope your daughter feels better soon. It's a horrible illness which has knocked me back massively.
Take care x
I am really sorry to hear this about your daughter, it is a very common and nasty side effect and at 15 its hard to take as she probably has little experience of pain in the past thankfully. I would say as Jeffery I would check it out, it is a poison and the people who have responded mostly to it are dystonia patients, I am not sure whether they have headaches as a consequence of the dystonia though. I certainly had headaches for a long time after VM but thankfully they have largely resolved now and they only occur if I am very tired or tring to do too much, maybe they are our warning system and without the reminder we would do more than our injured meninges can cope with? Good luck for your daughter.
