It is almost ten months on since I had bacterial meningitis. I was getting headaches which my dr prescribed me amitriptyline,I only took them for a few weeks as he said I could ween myself off if my headaches had improved. I haven't had a headache for a good while but the last few days its been quite bad. Also all my neck and down my spine really uncomfortable when walking. Im taking that this is all do with the aftermath of bm? Has anybody else had this?
Many thanks

I had bacterial meningitis 3 years ago and I still have the headaches every day, as my tells me I am still alive which is a bonus. I have just learned to live with it, all can say is take care you can do it
Thank you, yes I am very grateful to be alive too. Think its something I just have to live with luke you say. Nice knowing its not just me though as I worry so much🤦
don’t worry I have been told it could be with me the rest of my life. Had brain scans etc , so know now what I am dealing with. It does get easier in time to live with it so just take you will be fine
I had Bacterial meningitis five years ago. I had terrible headaches for the first year after. I eventually was diagnosed with a small hole in my meningeal sack and was loosing a small amount of cerebral spinal fluid. I ended up having to have a craniotomy to repair it along with my mastoid bone that had been broken by the pressure in my skull from meningitis. I’m definitely not saying that this is what you have.
I did find that taking a magnesium citrate supplement every day helped tremendously with my headaches. I still take them every day. Try the magnesium citrate, it can’t hurt!
Have you considered going to see an Osteopath at all??? I was suffering with severe neck pain and daily headaches following a case of Meningitis and was suffering terribly.
I started to see an Osteopath who has performed a number of Cranial techniques and has worked on my back and neck over the course of a few weeks and now apart from the odd twinge in my neck, I’m largely pain free.
I really couldn’t recommend it enough so if you’re able to see someone, then I hope it’d really help you. Good Luck!!
