I had a viral meningitis this time last year. I have tried and worked so hard to get back on my feet with work and looking after my family but feel like I am really losing my grip. I’m permanently exhausted and psychologically very low. I am trying to pace myself but it’s so difficult balancing caring for my family and trying to provide for them financially. My work requires me to be upbeat and positive with clients/patients and this is really taking it out of me. When I do have a day off I look forward to doing things for myself and then get so frustrated and depressed, when without the adrenal release I obviously get on a working day, I find it difficult to carry out even the basics and have to keep going back to bed. I’m eating well and taking a good range of vits and mins to support my recovery and cranial osteopathy helped with the neck pain and migraines I was initially experiencing. I am now at a loss as to what else I can do.

Struggling post VM

I would wish so much to give you tips for your to feel better. Unfortunately I am going to the same path you do. It is now 4 weeks since I was diagnosed with VM and still try to understand why I am not fully recovering as the doctors have promised me "within a few weeks". Tired, anxious, in pain (head, body), i have days where i feel better and days where i am back to step 0. It seems that there is more medical expertise on Covid19 than in meningitis...
I am sorry you are still feeling like this. It took me 18 months to regain my energy levels and I had stopped working too. (I know that is not an option for most people). The only advice I can give is to listen to your body and rest as much as possible. You are doing the right things by eating well and taking vits. I also drink energy boosting herbal teas which help me. I walk daily and also cycle, do yoga and strength training now too but 3 years on I still get days where I feel tired and whacked out.
Wish I could make you feel better but I am 1 1/2 years out and still struggling. You are right, I too have a job where I have to fake it all day. Then when I am by myself I crash. Not sure of the solution. Makes me so mad. I have days where I remain positive and then days where the world goes black. This covid shit hasn't helped. Makes me very anxious. Good luck and God bless! We will get through this somehow.
I wish I could offer something to make you feel better but I am in the same boat; diagnosed in December 2018. I do work full time and home educate my children so I am living what you might call a normal life but it's so hard - the fatigue is ever present, I have awful headaches, nerve pain, pins and needles etc. I agree that covid is making things much more difficult mentally; I also have severe asthma so am in the extremely vulnerable category and that does not help at all!
Hi Allium11 , can I ask which vitamins/minerals you're taking that help? Thanks in advance
