I'm so sorry you all are dealing with this horrible illness! .. my experience is with Viral Meningitis that I got September 2019 (was hospitalized for 5 days). Just now, after a second opinion with a neurologist have I gotten some answers on lingering pain from VM. So, 6 months out and I still have neck pain, migraines, sometimes joint pain, dizziness, fatigue.... of course I'm 32 and little kids tend to recover quicker from certain things. But lots of patience and prayer ... has helped me through this. Like I said, I've been in constant pain since September 2019 since the VM so I can't imagine how a bacterial version recovery would be... just keep fighting for your baby and to get answers! Ask ask ask, and realize sometimes they won't have an answer, but keep asking ...

I prayed for you, your baby and your family.

Personally, with VM I was fatigued beyond belief. Also, massive headache and light sensitivity. My body joints hurt all over after meningitis... I was in the hospital 5 days and even when they released me I just stayed in bed for days.

Yes, meningitis is painful for the body because the main part that aggects is the brain. So yes your daughter might feel pain, or might feel that she cant control her legs or other parts of her body. The fact is that noone can tell you when and how all this will end up. Take it step by step. As soon as the antiviotics finish their job(to kill tje bacteria that caused meningitis) then a big road begins for you and your baby. Mri, neurologist, eye tests, Hearing tests, physiotherapist and speech therapist evaluations... All according to mri findings and according to the picture that she has comparing before she got meningitis. Be strong and read, read read and ask ask ask for as muxj info you need to ask what is best for your child. Listen to doctors and listen to your child and listen to your enstinct asna mother. I hope your child is as lucky as mine and come out of this with little impact on her...

I am so sorry your baby got meningitis. Must be so absolutely scary for you. If your baby felt anything like I did, you are extremely weak and have a very big headache. You can barely move. I still get fatigued but am doing much better now. Don't expect too much from your baby just yet, it's very early days. The nerves in her legs are most probably affected and inflamed too. Time will reveal all. Keep asking the Drs questions and keep seeking for support for your baby. Sending you a very big hug and a reminder that you must look after yourself too. Take care. <3

Recovery time is different for everyone. No one can predict how long. PLEASE speak to Drs about better pain management for yr baby. It took a couple of months before my headaches eased. However I am 63 yrs age and babies and children bounce back much faster. I personally chose natural therapists to help me as Drs didnt have answers. Craniosacral massage helped a LOT after I left hospital and finished antibiotics. If yr baby has bacterial meningitis the antibiotics wd be making them miserable. I have regular Bowen therapy every 2 weeks or so now and that has been a lifesaver. I finally return to my part time job today on half days to begin. I am 6 months post bacterial meningitis and septicemia.

Bless your little baby. It’s so worrying as a parent having to see your child so poorly. My 14 year old is 3 weeks post Meningitis B. She was Very poorly hospitalised etc.... She still experiences dizziness, photphobia, memory loss , tiredness and weakness,. We are seeing small improvements each day however, with other usual childhood conditions kids usually recover within a few days, this is certainly not the case with Meningitis it’s a slow recovery and we have had to be patient, she has good days and bad days. Don’t worry it will take time. Just loads of TLC and patience.
