BM & VM diagnosed

I’m very new to these internet systems, my reading and writing is very poor but I would like to make contact with people and know I’m not alone. My story is very long but the basics are,

18 months ago feel very ill

Rushed to hospital

9 failed lumber punctures

Discover bacteria meningitis & viral meningitis

Three weeks on Iv medication

Sent home with no after care

Its 18 months later now and I’ve only just had a follow up neurologist appointment and as a result they want to do a full body mri to try and help resolve some of the debilitating problems I get almost daily. My main concern is “is it me” it’s been numerous doctors appointments with confused and bewildered doc’s, lots of medication that does nothing. Doctor Google research by my wife is saying 5-7 years, neurologists now tell me I may never get back where I was.

Dear Landlord,

It's been 3 years since I had meningoencephilitis. This is meningitis and encephilitis at the same time. The truth seems to be the doctors really don't know much about this disease. I was in the hospital 6 weeks and rehab 31 days. I am still very weak and my joints hurt too. Miagrains I take meds for and on and on and on! I am accepting the fact I will never be the same. Wish I had better info, but I don't. I pray you get better and are able to be back to your normal before long.

One of the problems I have is , on day two of being in hospital I was asked to consent to a lumber punctual, obviously I agreed, after nine failed attempts in less than an hour the three doctors involved were told to stop. I had gone in to what could only be described as involuntary shock and my howl body was in a state. Because of this they eventually agreed to do the procedure under anaesthetic and use live X-ray .....I would without doubt recommend this to anyone who has had back problems in your past because they can see where the needle is going as it passes between your spine bones, I could still feel every movement because they decided not to do a full knock out and only local anaesthetic which for some reason has no affect for me. The particular procedure wasn’t completed until day nine by which time they were unable to grow the bacteria to know which strain it was because of the large volume of medication I’d already been given, however what was discovered is the protein level was high in my spinal fluid and this indicates viral meningitis so when this was discovered I was put on to anti virals as well.
