Husband in coma BM

Hello All! Thank you for sharing your stories they give hope and inspiration.

My husband was diagnosed with BM Dec 11th 2018. He is still in the hospital and not fully responsive yet. The md says he will recover however could be 6-18 months. He also says the BM is gone but my husband will need time to come out of this coma. This has been awful experience for us all. I visit him daily talk/read to him and let him listen to music. I know he can hear me and my family is prayerful that he will make a full recovery. Any stories similar to ours?? Any words of encouragement are greatly appreciated.

Just want you to know that when I was in a BM coma, my family visited...and I have zero memory of any of their visits. I tell you this just in case your husband says he doesn't remember your visits...that it doesn't mean he doesn't care about you. I remember coming out of the coma...with the doctor standing over my bed. He explained why I was there and that there could be after effects. I could see and hear and understand what he was saying. But I still had severe legs & feet pain (the reason I originally called for an ambulance.)

I will say that seems to be quite a long time to be comatose, but definitely don't give up hope. Of course 6-18 months is quite awhile, but at least the MD isn't giving you false hope of a quick recovery as many tend to do.

I wasn’t able to hear everything people said I was able to place some of these things in my dreams though. I knew a brand new song after coma that hadn’t been released before coma my mother in law was playing the song when I was in coma so I knew the song when I woke up.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

I had bacterial menningitis 3 years ago and was in an induced come for a month. I remember my doctors saying it will take 12 to 18 months and thinking l am fine give me a couple of weeks. Ha how wrong was l... lt took a year some times going backwards and sometimes going forward.

Everyone's recovery is different, but the only wisdom l can say is take one day at a time. It does get better. Your whole family have been through this, and l can say that l needed my family to help me get better.

Each day the tiredness gets less, the fuzzy head gets clearer and the headaches fade. I returned to work too soon and really struggled. But in the end things got back to normal.

Take care

hi. Can you explain better what it feels like the fuzzy head? It was difficult to think, learn?
