Husband not well, please help

Hi, I’m new here, I am asking for my husband as I’m really worried about his symptoms, he’s not from uk, so never had the shot in school against meningitis. Recently (2/3 weeks) he’s been getting aches in his neck and says can’t move his arms or head as it causes shooting pains. He’s been getting cold feet and headaches, i am aware it may be stress related but I just want to know if i am just paranoid or it’s work getting him to see a doctor if so who is best to see? ( aside from a general practitioner ) as they are not very competent in my area :( also is there any other symptoms I should watch out for? thank you very much in advance for any advice! Can’t sleep worrying about him.

Vomiting and passing out were 2 other symptoms I had, with v/m. And pneumonia and leptospirosis. Go to emergency and he will need a spinal tap, to get a diagnosis. Good luck with him. Sleep well.

You are clearly very concerned and I would suggest that he does go to the doctors and get checked out. As you say it could be stress related but unless symptoms are similar to he has had before and previously he was diagnosed with stress, I would not ignore the current symptoms. Even if your husband was from the uk the vaccinations that are given to children do not cover/protect against all strains of meningitis. He should not wait for more symptoms he should seek medical assessment now.

I say go to the Doc. If he is stubborn like my husband, it may take him getting really sick. Darned guys, some of them are just like that. My very best to you and him.

Oh yes I know what you mean :) i think guys are just wired that way, pride and all. His neck is still in pain but says it’s slightly better with massage and heat pads, but we had a talk and he knows it can be serious business if he avoids telling me about any other symptoms or going to the doctor if he feels worse. I’m keeping an eye on him ;)

I would go and see a neurologist privately, who would be much better placed than a GP to diagnose something to do with the brain, spine, infection, trapped nerves, etc.... Watch out for the other symptoms listed for meningitis if you think it could be that but bear in mind that not all the symptoms will necessarily appear at once, if at all. It’s a good idea to keep a diary of how he is feeling each day- if you do go to a specialist it makes it much easier for them to understand the progression of your illness to be able to read about it chronologically. Hopefully you want need it after all!
