Persistent cough after meningitis?

Hi, I had meningitis when I was 4, I'm almost 22 now but my immune system is still really weak. I was in hospital for a couple of months with it and made a full recovery but my immune system has never been the same since. For the past few Autumn/Winters I have suffered with a persistent cough for up to 3 months at a time. It usually starts after a cold, but hangs around for an awful long time after the cold has cleared and it doesn't ease. It always feels like I have something sat on my chest that I need to cough up. Just wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar and whether I should get it checked out??

I'd get it checked out. We are not medics here, just people who've had meningitis. I'd want to see an immunologist if my system was compromised. Good luck.
