left Intraventricular Meningioma

New to this forum having only just been diagnosed with a small meningioma in the left posterior ventricle (10mm) last week. I would be interested to hear others experience of this, particularly if in the same area of the brain. Also I’ve been told it’s benign, but don’t know if that has to be confirmed by biopsy, or do they just go off appearance on the MRI. This was found following admission following collapse, although the doctors said it won’t have caused the collapse, so they were checking for a bleed due to a bad head wound and discovered the tumour. All I know at the moment is they believe it to be benign and the neurosurgeons don’t intend to operate at this stage, but I need MDT with neuro oncology. Just waiting for info now. Sahra

Sorry to hear that...most meningiomas are benign. I'm sure your doctor will explain everything in detail once the do the tests and have the required information. I had a surgery for left frontal meningioma. I had regular scans before my consultant decided that I would need an operation. I know a news like this can be very unsettling but your doctors will ensure that they give you information once they know the details.

There are charities that have support lines where you can speak with someone and just share how you feel. The Brain Tumour Charity is one.

I do hope you get to see your neurosurgeon soon and get answers to all your queries.

Good luck and best wishes!

Hi,I have recently been diagnosed with a 12mm meningioma on the right side just above my temple adjacent to the temporal pole. I had a really bad headache and was admittted for a suspected bleed following the CT scan showing a small lesion. MRI a few days later showed up this tumor. I have been seen by my neuro surgeon who tells me its benign and put me on a watch and wait with my next scan in 6 months so i have to wait until july this year. He said my headaches are nothing to do with my meningioma neither is this whoosing sound i have in my right ear. They can tell from an MRI if its benign or not they just cant stage it until its removed and sent to pathology. I had a scan in 2016 for headaches and my meningioma wasnt there then so this has grown around 8 years. I dont have any other things going on in terms of symtoms so they are happy to leave it alone.

Im new to this forum too and im sure you may feel a little the same as myself.
