radiotherapy for a grade 2 following surgery

on 1st March I had surgery to have 3 Meningiomas removed. One from my right frontal lobe had been graded grade 2. Yesterday I had an appointment with oncologist to discuss the option of having radiotherapy to reduce the risk of reoccurrence. I am really struggling to decide if I should go ahead and have this or go for watch and wait option. I got the impression that the consultant felt I should have radiotherapy however also felt she would be supportive of the decision I made. I am really struggling as do not feel there are enough clear facts/statistics to support me in making an informed decision. Any views, thoughts experience would be welcome

I have also gone through grade II meningioma surgery in 2020. My neurosurgeon informed me that grade II meningioma is aggressive and there are chances of recurrence. Hence radiosurgery is preferable. I went for cyber-knife radiosurgery, which is targeted and precise. It minimizes the chances of recurrence. I completed my multiple sittings of cyber-knife radiosurgery in June 2020. Till now I am very much fine. I joined my work in 2021 and doing well.

I think you should go for radiosurgery.

hi suzie

Yes I too have been in that position . I had a massive menigioma removed off my brain stem 2016 . They were unable to remove it all and after it showed an increase in size 2022 I had 5 weeks of stereotactic radiotherapy every day . I worked everyday for 5 hr days . Was. Bit tired in the last2 weeks and only had 1 unwell day off work 2 weeks post radio . An mRI 12 month later showed shrinking and apparently it can have benefits years after . I didn’t have any side effects apart from fatigue snd feeling dizzy one day 2 weeks post . I was guided by my neuro surgeon . I too was reluctant but I’ve had a good outcome . Good luck

i am in a similar position as you, the surgeon has had to leave a small amount in and now because of re growth has offered radiotherapy. Gamma knife is out of the question. I don’t know what to do.
