hello

My son Has cerebral palsy

Also has a feeding peg is visually impaired and has Hyperinsulinism Uses a wheelchair unable to walk

He was called for the Covid vaccine, When he was 17 When I arrived at the doctors, I was asked to stay in the car with him. The Dr came out With a leaflet, I asked her why there were only elderly people on the leaflet and told her my son is only 17. She’s Said your son is high risk, do you want him to have the vaccine? She had brought the vaccine out in a dish asked if he was well and I said he’s as well as can be.

Then proceeded to give him the vaccine in the back of my car. I asked if he should come into the surgery, she said no .Then we will moved away two minutes later by somebody in the car park to let another car in.

I took him home and about an hour later, he started to fit. His lip swelled. He was given the Astrazeneca. I phoned the doctors, and they said he shouldn’t of been given it. It was a computer error.

They weren’t giving it to his age group

I felt so upset that this had happened and I’d trusted drs , but was frightened of him getting Covid. He’d had a reaction to the vaccine.

I knew this was wrong as the doctor phoned me at 8 pm at night to apologise for the doctor that had given it to him

He Got Covid after the vaccine Very poorly I’ve never lets him have a vaccine since I find it very hard to trust doctors now.

it sounds as if you had a really hard experience and were let down badly by doctors. It’s got to be a personal decision whether or not to have these vaccines. We were offered the Moderna vaccine at our local pharmacist. They gave us a leaflet with details, including the ingredients of the vaccine. I think they aren’t using the Astra Zenica one this year.

I wonder whether you’ve managed to find out the reason why your son had that reaction to the vaccine. It could have been an allergic reaction to one of the ingredients. If you could get him a proper assessment at an allergy clinic at, say, St Thomas’s Hospital or UCLH, then perhaps you’d be able to identify what substance triggered the bad reaction and can then determine which vaccines pose a potential threat to him and which do not. It’ll take time. But he’s young. This is something that will come up every year. There’s no risk-free path. There are only strategies to mitigate the risks we face.

Once your son is 18 you will no longer be able to choose not to vaccinate him as he will be an adult. A decision will be made in his best interests. Now that your son has been so ill with Covid, I hope that will reassure you that vaccination is so important. This year, most people are being given the Moderna vaccination and some are being given the Pfizer one.

I am glad you have now reached a good decision!

I’m sorry you had that experience. Having said that, as a former GP who also worked in a vaccination centre, I can understand why an error might be made. The rules, guidelines, restrictions and regulations at that time during the pandemic were constantly evolving and with 3 vaccines working in two different (but equally effective) ways it was often difficult to keep up. The doctors recognised the error and apologised so don’t hold this against the whole profession. To err is human after all.

For people with disabilities and neurological disorders the evidence for vaccination remains strong and the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines should be suitable. I understand your indignation and anger but please talk to the vaccination professionals and don’t let your feelings, and the prejudices of others, prevent you from making a balanced decision.

The law states that medical procedures cannot be legally carried out without FULLY informed consent- the Montgomery Judgment 2015 - and that ALL material information has to be given to the patient. Since no one actually knows what the long term effects are it is impossible to give properly Informed Consent to Covid vaccines. “Failure to properly discuss the risks and alternative treatments with the patient renders the doctor (or delegated professional) personally responsible for damages. “ For more information see ukmedfreedom.org

The safety monitoring of both the US, UK etc VAERS etc clearly show that there is a very serious safety issue. The risk of myocarditis and pericarditis particularly for young men is now actually mentioned on the patient information leaflets. These are not trivial conditions- the US Cleveland clinic website states that the survival rate for myocarditis after 5 years is 50%.

Your son has already had a bad reaction to a Covid vaccine. I would be very very surprised if a healthcare professional knowing that would take the risk of giving him another in case of him having a worse reaction.

I have already had a couple of phone calls from drs offering him the covid vaccine

But I had advice that it’s not in his best interest to put him a further risk

He has had covid and also an a blood test For his immunity and it has come back good.

The problem I have Is that he is now over 18 and cannot make decisions for himself. I’m going to look into getting some legal advice. I obviously want the best for him but don’t want to put him on any further risk.

I think you need to be aware that there is a risk that repeated vaccination may lead to something called immune tolerance so that instead of fighting an infection the immune system does not respond. It’s how desensitising injections work for allergies.

This is a link to a paper about it pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/372...

With regard to the concerns about pericarditis and myocarditis some balance is required to the information previously posted. Both of these conditions occur in people who have NOT been vaccinated. Also, both of these conditions can be caused by COVID infection as well as other viral infections. The advice on the British Heart Foundation website explains this in detail and also points out that the risk of pericarditis and myocarditis is HIGHER in UNVACCINATED patients and the illness is also likely to be more severe.

The number of cases of myocarditis and pericarditis is very low overall and full recovery occurs in most cases. Many, many more people die or suffer long term illness from COVID and its complications.

The complications are listed in the vaccine data sheets so that clinicians are on the look out for cases. It is correct that patients should be fully informed by someone who can give a balanced view.

I disagree with the statement that it is impossible to give informed consent for the COVID vaccine - consent is given on the basis of what is currently known about the vaccine balanced against the risks of infection.

With regard to the comment about immune tolerance, no one is suggesting that this is a reason to stop the vaccination program. No doubt this will be an area for future research and significant findings will be factored into future vaccine guidelines which, as I pointed out in my previous post, are constantly evolving.

The bottom line is, if you have concerns, seek advice from a professional who can give balanced information and answer your questions.
