I need to find help with a criminal injury claim and also if I need personal injury trust to stop a ln award affecting my young persons benefit. My yp was victim of a serious sexual assault which ended in a conviction. Since then I have been unable to find any organisation to help me with the claim. This whole case has been extremely distressing for all concerned and I am shocked at lack of support. Can anyone help please?

CICA help

Hi Buffy106,So sorry to hear that you were subjected to that. It sickens me to know there are people out there capable of such things. I hope you are staying strong and spending as much time around friends and family and taking strength from them
I worked for 6 months with the CICA about 22 years ago. They are now known as The Ministry of Justice. I ended up having to leave, as I took alot of the stuff I had to read personally and felt like I might become a vigilante to try and help the victims.
Anyway, I don't know exactly how the system works anymore, but it's probably worth speaking to your local citizens advice bureau for free advice from people who have a good knowledge of legal matters. When I worked at the CICA we always required medical reports, police reports and legal reports from the courts.
Have you spoken to rape crisis as well? They should also be able to advise you.
Best of luck and just remember you aren't alone and try and keep around the people who care about you and draw strength from them. Also, be sure to have as many meetups with your female friends to keep your spirits and resilience up.
Hope that's of some use.
so sorry your up has had this experience. It may bo worth considering a specialist solicitor to pursue your CICA and a potential civil compensation prosecution if there was negligence. Most operate a no win no fee basis and it’s far easier than doing it yourself. Google “solicitor rape compensation”. Good luck 👍

Hello Buffy106 , sorry to hear about your situation, I can't imagine the distress it's caused to your YP as well as yourself.
It may be worth contacting our Learning Disability Helpline on 0808 808 1111 or email helpline@mencap.org.uk if you prefer. They may be able to signpost you to someone who can take this on.
Mencap also has a wills and trusts service, and though I don't think your particular situation is what they generally deal with, again they may have some advice or be able to point you in the direction of a solicitor or organisation who can. You can reach the team on 0207 696 6925 or email willsandtrusts@mencap.org.uk.
Hope that helps.
I would recommend Mathieu Culverhouse from Irwin Mitchell solicitors who has a wealth of experience in these areas. His contact details are +44 370 1500 100.
