I am trying to support a man (with the help of his family) who is in his 50s and living independently, He is hopeless with money. Does anyone have any idea of a bank account that will stop him overspending please? He has just gone out and bought a whole load of clothes which he can’t afford ‘because I need to treat myself…’
Any ideas welcome please and thank you, Carol

The Family can or yourself, if your a registered Support Worker, ask his Gp for a Referal to Amht services, Adult Social Care Assessment for Capacity, needs to be done, is there a member of family that's his Carer or yourself, then they can be given Power of Attorney for Financial & where he lives Housing. Then he can't just overspend, if they only leave certain amounts in one Account & save in another Account, for him. What ever, I advise a Full Health check, as there could be something major going on & this is a New behaviour, which could be early signs of something.
Hi how is he using money at the moment cash or card. Is anyone appointee for him? Does anyone make sure his bills are paid? Just an idea but I would possibly get him another debit card and whoever if anyone helps him at all with finances tots up what he might use in a week and transfers a weekly amount onto this card for personal spending for him to use. The other card could be kept for necessities ie bills, larger items clothing etc.
