Back to school in England for most

Hello

Today is a big day for lots of children (and parents) as most children and teenagers in England have gone back to school or college today.

How has this gone for you?

What went well? What didn't go so well.

Contact has some great frequently asked question on their website about it here -contact.org.uk/advice-and-s...

Some families aren't so lucky, and some children as still not returning to the classroom. It this happening to you? How are you coping with it?

Best wishes

Sarah

My son went back in May of 2020. We’ve been fortunate to have that!

That is great news. Hopefully he is enjoying having all his classmate's back too.

Hi Sarah. It’s residential and they’ve all been back. It’s a lovely environment and they’ve been very safe. Thankfully now they’re all vaccinated too. I just feel sad that we fought so hard for the placement and spent thousands at tribunal and he’s missed the whole experience having all the lovely holidays they had planned cancelled. I’m going to fight for an extra year there though, I’m sure it’s going to be another big battle 🙄

First day back went well. Our children seem to have got used to the Covid rules. Such a relief to have them back there. I feel like I have time to think again.

I really feel for parents/families/children who cannot go back as they are shielding.

Great news. I think many parents are feeling that same sense of relief.

It must be so hard for families where children can't return to school at the moment.

Hello again

I saw this on the Guardian website about the concerns about some children returning to the classroom

theguardian.com/education/2...

I have also just spotted that Contact have a listening ear service where you can have a confidential 1-hour chat about whatever is on your mind. Here is the tweet I saw - twitter.com/contactfamilies...
