Hi there,
I’m just posting as my friend has recently passed her driving test and was over the moon as independent travel really is a necessity for her and her daughters day to day life. However, since her passing her test her daughter has been classed as low rate mobility which means they aren’t entitled to a vehicle which is vital to their day to day activities.
Her daughter has non verbal autism, learning difficulties, PVL and is hyper mobile so as you can imagine we’re struggling to see how this decision was made. These conditions combined mean public transport isn’t an appropriate mode of transport for her in any way as she struggles being around others, tires very quickly and as such is a physical danger to her, she also can’t walk well without support or her pram which is too big for buses or taxis.
I wondered whether anyone else had been through this situation before and what they did to appeal and if there’s anyone out there with any form of legal advice to support this appeal?
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks
