Universal Credit entitlement and college

So it didnt work out in residential college for my son ( poor care) and 4 days later he was home. He has been home since September now and with him turning 20 I had to make an UC claim for him as means of financial support. He has also been put in the limited for work catergory. There now is a possibility of a day placement in a local specialised college funded by welsh government. If he starts here will this affect his UC ? Any advice appreciated. Thank you

Hi CT76 , sorry to hear the residential college didn't work out for your son. In your post you mention the Welsh government, is that where you're based? If so, you can give our advisers on the Wales Learning Disability Helpline a call on 0808 8000 300. I'm sure they'd be able to provide an answer to your question. Hope that helps. 🙂

Doesnt need to be providing fit notes as been put in the correct catergory for limited capacity for work

as long as you show that he is unable to work , and the college is only for basic skills to support him in work he should get UC .
